GPU Expansion
Hello –
I’m about to expand my system to hopefully gain some speed in Resolve, and I wondered if anyone could recommend the best GPU expansion route – Anything you are supremely happy with?
Based on all I have read, Cubix Desktop 4 seems to be the most popular; along with a Red Rocket. Trying to figure out what additional cards to go with from here.
I appreciate any help. Sorry if this question comes up a lot. Is there a recent thread on this?

Rocket only makes sense if you work with red a lot. Otherwise just put up to three GTX 580s in there and call it a day.
Oh and drop the 5770. Use the q4000 as your GUI card.

Should I be concerned with any heat or noise from these? I assume the quiet fan version is the way to go, but how loud do the cards run?

Quiet is not the way to go unless you’re just putting low profile cards like q4000s in it. And I don’t recommend that (waste of $).
As to noise, yes there probably is some. Like many suites my computer systems are in another room. So I don’t really factor it in. I suppose they’re loud. But you’re doing color grading not sound mixing right?

Good to know. I don’t a have machine room, and I work with clients in the room; so I am concerned.
