    They are still in orlando… they got bought by silicon optix… but still operate as a seperate division. Their offices are on southland blvd. I meet with the product manager just last week.

    The teranex offices are actually in orlando… If you contact them i’m sure they can direct you to a facility in the area that has their box.

    Personally I prefer the quality of the Snell & Wilcox Alchemist upconvertor for SD-HD conversions.

    Only to a D5-HD recorder not an older D5 only deck… But yes D5s work fine… you will want to change the deck control presets to panasonic instead of the default sony.

    If that’s your ownly system… I would wait until 10.4.2 has been released and tested for a while.

    You can set the camera (or also deck i beleive) to downconvert HDV to dv over firewire… the results are quite nice.

    In the system prefrences under the Decklink tab, there is a down conversion setting…. make sure it’s set to off.

    I didn’t say DV wasn’t used in professional applications… Just trying to point out the reason why avid uses the D1 spec for their 1:1 resolution.

    Because AVID uses the D1 spec for uncompressed (720×486), DV is not a professional/broadcast format. D1 is.
