Compressor will do this in ok quality. But it will take forever. The best quality and fastest way is a motion compensated hardware converter. Generally you need to go to a dub house that has alchemist hd. But you will of course have to pay for this.

There are several apps for dealing with srt or caption files that will convert the frame rate of those files by basically counting frames and then converting that to time effectively simulating the speed up. What format are your transcriptions in?

That’s very interesting. Thanks for posting. I would think the future of consumer editing would be in the cloud. Such as youtubes new editor. I know avid has done a ton of development and research into cloud based editing. Maybe the target for that tech isn’t so much pro as consumer.

Right now for this kind of solution, I would recommend a MacBook pro with thunderbolt and an ultrastudio 3d, with the scopebox software. Which is awesome. This solution would allow monitoring and scopes all the way up to 2k.

No. But you can skip edit to edit and paste in the sound effect.

Render out the video then add the camera click in a video editor. Will be much easier. Just copy and paste along the sequence as needed.

There are instructions on apples site regarding fcpx and fcp7 on the same machine. That is much trickier than avid & fcp.
Fcpx doesn’t use QuickTime. It uses av foundation. So they don’t interfere with each other. I would say the safest would be fcpx & avid on the same machine. But I do have all three on one of our machines and there haven’t been any issues yet.

Install the 7 disc. It will prompt u for old license key. Type it in and install directly. Os upgrades with apps installed are always a bad idea.

Right now you can use your old license and get an upgrade to Symphony for $999. Pretty good deal.
