Hello, I have a project with quite a bit of AVCHD with the big directory structure with the Stream folder and DCIM and all that. Is it possible to have Avid find the MTS file in it’s folder without have to go all the way down and point exactly to it? So far FCP log and capture is the only thing I’ve found that does that.

Can you AMA link to volume on the AVCHD folder?

I have received an error when trying to AMA link to “STREAM” folders in the past (this is where the media lives) – right or wrong or user error I do not know, BUT, my solution was to ‘move’ the “STREAM” folder to the root of the drive and all was happy and linked perfectly. In my specifc case(s), it “seemed” as if Avid could not link to the folder buried that deep in the structure – also it does keep you from having to navigate so deeply.

That kind of blows when you have 100 of those files and many of them have the exact same name. The folder is intended to be the file name. I guess I’ll have to transcode in FCP.
