  • How do I add a camera click to sequence of stills?

Posted by Rob Such on April 14, 2012 at 4:35 am

    Hi,

Anyone know how I can add a camera shutter click, recorded as a wav file, to a sequence of stills? Just wondering if there’s a quick way to do it, rather than having to duplicate the sound and manually add it to each change in still image. I imported the sequence and set the frame rate to 5fps.

    Thanks.

Render out the video then add the camera click in a video editor. Will be much easier. Just copy and paste along the sequence as needed.

Thanks. I asked about this in a Premiere Pro forum. Was told this sort of stuff would be done in AE! I was thinking if I could select all the stills in the timeline and add a default transition, I could set the camera click as default audio transition. Could I make the camera click into an audio transition and set it as default?

No. But you can skip edit to edit and paste in the sound effect.

Er, ‘skip edit to edit’? What does that mean?

Don’t know off hand what the keyboard shortcut is in premiere. But in fcp you press the down arrow and it takes you to the next cut in the sequence.

Thanks. Found out the fn+down arrow does that. Any idea how to get the camera shutter audio click to centre over the still change? It keeps snapping to the clip, either start or end. I can’t get it to sit over the change in still image in the timeline.

Hi, yes, that’s it. It works well if you have a short burst of still images taken as you move through a scene. The only thing is I can’t position the camera click over the change in still image in the timeline. It either snaps to the beginning or the end of the image/clip. And the camera shutter sound also slows down as well because I set the image sequence to 5 pfs.

Pressing ‘s’ turns off snapping in Premiere.
