Unfortunately I have also not had good experience with the sync settings feature either. For one thing, I never understood when you click “sync settings” if you are uploading them to the cloud or downloading from. Either way, clicking it never did anything for me either in Ppro or AE. I don’t know weather or not you can retrieve your erased settings from the cloud, but I highly doubt it.

If you are on a mac, you can go to Documents>Adobe>Premiere Pro>8.0>Profile[username]> and there you will see a file called “Adobe Premiere Pro Prefs” and a folder called “Mac”. Copy those to your flashdrive and place in the same folder on the machine your moving to in order to copy the prefs, including window layouts and shortcuts. I don’t know what the path is for windows but I’m sure it’s similar, and a quick google search will find it.

It feels a little buggy. I’ve been having a lot of issues with Premiere, especially with dynamic link to AE, and general playback issues while AE is open. Having said that, I just downloaded the bug fix, so we’ll see if that helps

  • I just customize all my shortcuts in each program so that the ones I use the most remain the same.

  • Walter you are incredible

  • Yes. Use the 3D camera tracker in AE, or if that doesn’t work, use Mocha

So if I understand right, you’re rendering a lossless file out of AE, then importing that file back into AE and dropping it in a taller comp to add letterbox? Why don’t you just run the lossless file through Media Encoder and add the extra 144 pixels to the Y? Or through an NLE?

I added just a bit of reflection during one moment where the phone body itself moved. You can see it at ~00:40 on the Samsung:

I believe I just added reflection and a bit of specular to the texture in C4D. If that causes issues, you can make a copy of the screen and move the copy forward ever so slightly, then remove the color texture and add transparency, so it is just a piece of glass

When I made an iPhone app promo, I was unaware that the compositing tag can be recognized in AE. My workflow was to create all the animation in an AE comp that matched the iPhone resolution (and I made sure my model’s screen size was the same!), render out the animation as lossless, then use the animation as a texture on the screen in C4D. It was a pain, but such is life.

A quick google search should bring up plenty of free realistic models. They almost all come with textures and it may take a minute to apply them in the right places in C4D, but that’s it
