The issue in Media Express is a disk speed issue. His other issue is most likely because the format the software is set to is not supported by Intensity Shuttle (though I can’t confirm because that info is not provided).
But normally that message means that FME is set to an odd framesize/rate that is not supported by the hardware.
So yes you’ll need to make sure the input settings are correct, but you’ll also need to make sure the format (720p59.94, 1080i59.94 etc) is correct in FME and supported by the Intensity Shuttle.

February 28, 2012 at 7:40 pm in reply to: OpenGear Software 1.8.2 — what does it actually do?This update, in some case the lock timing could be slower. So this has improved that situation for the UDC (it’s shorter than it was, but different formats will be different).
It did NOT address the CC translation lines for the UpDownCross, though it is still in the Bug Database to be addressed.

February 24, 2012 at 11:04 pm in reply to: HyperDeck 2.5 Beta 2 software available now.Hey there,
1. We don’t really talk about stuff like that. I can say it is a feature we hear requested often.
2. As you know it currently does nothing. I don’t know if it will ever be useable in the future for moving files, (i’m pretty sure it’s not possible). But unit control is more likely.

February 24, 2012 at 10:57 pm in reply to: Intensity Extreme not working under Lion 10.7.3I have an interesting situation as well. All my iMac’s work with the Intensity Extreme, but my MacBookPro does not power the device up (no light next to the thunderbolt connection).
My Ultrastudio 3D does work however on the same laptop.
So, i’ll have to look at this further and see what I can find out.

February 24, 2012 at 10:42 pm in reply to: A PC laptop that works with the Intensity Shuttle?Yeah, originally the envy 15″ (first gen) worked, and it was the first laptop with USB3. Then they re-reved it and the 14,15 and 17 did not work (they changed where the controller was situation on the motherboard).
Since then we’ve had a rough time finding laptops that work appropriately. We’ve got an HP that is coming to us for testing that was promising (customer reported it working) so we are waiting for our labs to confirm that.
I’d love to hear about the Asus (we’ve tried a few earlier versions). Tough things with laptops is they are constantly coming out and we simply cannot buy or even get all of them on loan. So we can only suggest the ones we know for sure will work. On the desktop side it’s a bit better, but the USB3 add in boards work very well. But it’s not really as important on the desktop side because you can always just buy a PCI-e version of the board instead.
But yeah, would love to hear the feedback on this.

Well, the device doesn’t really scale like that. And while that will work in some cases (like 2k to HD crop) it is not always ideal for most formats.
You should choose the appropriate Blackmagic Easy Setup that matches the format you are using (and codec type) and then your output will be set properly by default.

Just to clarify.
Is the input set to SDI? It will not work from analog sources. It’s SDI only.

It will work, it’s just not one of the devices we’ve “certified” in the build guide. All of our boards work with the same underlying architecture so they should work with no problem.

If you want to play them back directly from disk, then yes, you’ll have to create that structure in the disk and move the files there to get them to be recognized by MC6. This is the structure that Avid requires, they don’t have a way to choose a different location.
Though we are considering making it so those files automatically write to that folder structure, but there are some ramifications that we need to consider.

February 21, 2012 at 6:56 pm in reply to: HyperDeck 2.5 Beta 2 software available now.Glad to hear you like it. Yeah, the viewing of clips was by design. You can only scan clips that are at the current playback rate. This can be changed by inputting a different video format. So if you’re playing back 1080i then only the 1080i clips will be available to scan through. But if you push 720p into it, it will change the playback rate so you can then move through those clips. We might be able to change this behavior in a software update at a later time.
As for your suggestions:
1.Able to format hard drive from unit
I agree, this would be fantastic. Not sure if this is possible with current hardware, but good suggestion non-the-less.
2.Delete files from unit
Another good suggestion. Again, not sure if it is possible with the hardware or not.
3.Select different data rates in DNxHD
Any particular rates you have in mind?
4.Record in H.264 would be sweet for long records.
This one is definately not possible to do in the current hardware as the encoder is not present.
