Okay, so in the control panel you are set to Analog audio, so there are only 2 channels of analog audio.

So as far as the board goes it will only put out 2 channels of Analog, which is why you only have controls for 2.

So..that is why they are ghosted.

But you are using SDI so this is not really the case.

So Dual Mono would be the right configureation.

Once that is done, you will have to make sure you apply that to the current sequence. Once that is applied then the you will have to change the audio mapping in the timeline. So you will need to set channels 3&4 to output to 1&2 (respectively). You can do this in stereo mix as well, but then you are dealing with audio pairs instead of 4 discreet channels.

Hrm. Currently you can edit in 24p and the output will have a 3:2 pulldown added to it, so the output will be 59.94.

We are working on adding the embedded time code support.

The new codecs that Kris mentioned are the new ProRes codecs.

July 29, 2009 at 6:06 pm in reply to: Media Express 2.0

As for the release of Media Express 2.0, we dont’ have an exact date. We are still working on squashing a few critical bugs.

As for new drivers for CS4, what are you looking for? Is there a specific issue you are having? If so then it may have been fixed in the next release, but I would need to know specifically what. But for general compatibility we use CS4 with our current web drivers on Vista 64 all day.

As for Framelink, most of these features will be natively available in Media Express 2, so you should likely have a solution when that comes out.

July 29, 2009 at 6:03 pm in reply to: Deck Link Extreme 3 + Logic Pro

In those applications it is using the Mac core audio interface. So I am not sure if that is an application specific fix (though it could be).

Here’s something to check on. Our boards can only exist in one state at a time, Capture or Playback. If a software tries to invoke the board for capture, you will be unable to get any system sound through the output. So obviously when iTunes is working it does NOT try to invoke a capture mode.

So make sure that NO running application is trying to “capture” or use the board for input, and then the board should slip into playback mode.

July 29, 2009 at 6:01 pm in reply to: Blackmagic Mini Converter issues

Okay… I think you may have the products flipped around.

The Analog to SDI can take EITHER HD or SD. However, it will only take Composite and Y/C in SD (obviously). There’s no scaling on that unit (however it will auto detect).

The SDI to Analog has two separate modes. If you give it HD SDI, it will output HD Component only. If you give it SD, it will output SDI on Component OR Y/C composite (depending on switches). The down converter mode (if enabled) will allow you to input an HD SDI signal and will give you SD Component OR Composite Y/C out. There is no SPLIT Down convert ability on this device.

So, I guess I am just not clear on what your workflow is here. Can you describe what you are trying to do. From what to what, what format etc. Maybe we can help figure out what is going on.

    Sincerely,

  • Does it work if you try to use one of the supplied presets? I imagine what is happening is the setup is wrong.

But if you are not seeing the options in the playout properties, it could mean that the plugins are installed incorrectly as well.

If that’s the case then you may want to try uninstalling the Decklink software then reinstall it to reinstall the plugins. Once that is done, try one of our supplied presets to check.

    Ah, sorry, missed that.

Yup, that would definately suggest that the problem is not the board or the source, which is good news.

What codec are you capturing to? If it is MJPEG it may require some additional CPU overhead. If you are using Uncompressed it will require less CPU but require more load on your hard drives, which seem to be good for it.

Also, consistent dropouts every other frame might also suggest a bus issue. Make sure you’ve go the latest BIOS on the motherboard as well as chipset drivers and graphics card drivers. You will need the hardware acceleration turned on on the graphics board (if you’ve lowered it and not turned it back up).

So on that same sheet of music, mention capturing HD…have you tried to capture SD? To see if that might be an issue with data across the bus.

For the 4x boards both the boards that this office has personally tested work fine, so both the Intel DX58SO and the P6T line seem to work fine. I know there are a number of others which have been reported working as well (again with the 4x lane boards)

July 14, 2009 at 6:16 pm in reply to: Ultrascopes Shipping?

The website has been updated to reflect the “Shipping in July” timeframe, which is looking honestly like it will be towards the end of this month.

There was a few issues that needed to be squashed before shipping, so we had to push it. But we have not forgotten about anyone and are looking forward to a solid launch.

    Sincerely,
