Yeah…the good news is that the technote page exists. And as we test more board we will keep this updated.

Holy Cow…no pun intended.
That’s a cool solution in a pinch. Not that we’d recommend it of course, but if it works, hey that’s great!
Excellent find! Google is tops sometimes.

January 13, 2011 at 7:40 pm in reply to: Intensity Pro firmware update problem on windows 7 pro 64Bit – UNSOLVEDInteresting. I am not sure that the UAC would be causing a problem, though it could potentially.
So here’s a brief bit on what is happens.
When you install our drivers it installs an application that will check the firmware on the card each time the computer is booted. If during uninstall or install you didn’t have admin rights, this program may not have been placed or removed. Obviously it is placed because it tries to run. So my guess is that something may be causing it to run more than once.
When the computer boots it runs this checking utility, until this utility passes the check the Intensity (or deckink for that matter) will run in a sorta, service mode. That is to say it will be detected by the system, but all the options will be greyed out.
So whatever happened is somehow causing the checking tool to believe that the card needs updating every time you boot.
So we need to find out why.
First thing I would do is uninstall the Blackmagic drivers from the control panel. Once that is done go ahead and reboot. When the system comes up, it may prompt you to reinstall drivers, just cancel out.
Now click on start -> run (or newer OS’s use the search option) type in MSCONFIG and press enter.
You will see a box come up with a bunch of tabs, click the startup tab.
Scan down that list and if you see any “Blackmagic” related entry, turn it off by unchecking it. Click apply and it will tell you that you need to restart…go ahead. Incidentally when the computer comes back online it will probaly mention that your settings were changed, just tick the box that says don’t show this again.
Now navigate to C:\Program Files (x86). You will see a blackmagic folder. If the ONLY Blackmagic product you have is Intensity, then delete the entire Blackmagic folder. If you have other products please go into the Blackmagic folder and remove any Decklink, Multibridge and/or Intensity folders.
Once this is done, please confirm you have the latest version of the Intensity drivers from our website (that’s 3.9.4) and run the installer.
Reboot when completed and let’s see if that cleared out the problem. If not give us a call and our team can go through more options.

Hi Robbie,
The first email I’ve seen from you was forwarded to me from Peter Chamberlain. I’ve responded to your email in some detail, but also had some questions.
I’ve also responded to a post with similar questions on this forum. So please check for it.

Excellent, that’s correct. You can install our drivers without a card and that will allow working with the project settings and codecs.
We used to have a separate codec pack, but we discontinued it. It is much simpler to maintain one installer package than two.
Always make sure that you have the same version of the drivers installed on both the systems.

Hey Robbie,
I sent you an email (forwarded from Peter Chamberlain) this morning with some possible reasons why you are not seeing embedded timecode.
To sum up, timecode over SDI (from the Decklink HD Extreme 3 and higher) will only show up if the output is coming from Resolve. Other applications such as FCP we do not support RP188 out.
There’s more detail in my email, but give it a quick scan.

I would probably run it with Windows 7. I run all my scopes on 7 in the office. It works very nicely.
As for laptops for Pocket Ultrascope when we first launched it there was one that we found to work. It was the 15″ HP Envy. But since they’ve discontinued that model and changed the motherboard in it. So unfortunately the current 15″ HP Envy doesn’t work.
Bottom line, right now we have not found one that works. However we are constantly testing new ones (we’ve got a few right now that we are looking at).
As for the graphics card, don’t worry about trying to get an older card, just get one that is newer than the minimum. Stay away from the nVidia Qaudros (as they don’t support the texture fill rates we require) but the gaming cards work well. If you have a question about a specific card give us a call. It should not matter if the card is OEM or not.

Eh….sticky situation.
The short answer is that because the architecture of our cards and their drivers all run off the same code, any of our modern boards should theoretically load in and run. This should also not affect performance.
What do you loose? Well, we’ve made some pretty serious firmware changes to the Decklink HD Extreme 3/3d/3d+ cards that allow for LTC and deck control to be accurate within Resolve (there are a number of things, but those two come to mind).
Here’s the thing. We only test the boards i’ve mentioned above. And right now, we don’t plan on testing others. So, if you have some problems doing this…we’ll log the issue but that’s as far as it will go.
The bottom line is that we can only support the configurations we define in our support guide.
I hope that helps for what it’s worth.

Hrm, out of memory issues typically come in long form or more complex projects. That combined with random crashing. I’d be curious to know which (if any) FX plugins you are using in this project. If you are using plugins do these issues get better when you DO NOT use the plugins.
I’m not laying blame here but if there is a particular plugin which doesn’t play nice with us (i’ve seen this before from time to time) we want to know which so we can decide how best to fix it (or so we can contact the software manufacturer).
Your system surely seems capable and 16GB of RAM is a goodly amount. So I don’t reckon that’s an issue.
A few other questions:
**What slot are the Decklink Boards installed (We recommend 3 or 4 though I am partial to 4 with the HBA in slot 3).
**What format are you using? Are you using several different, are they all the same res/framerate?
**You didn’t specifically mention which easy setup you are using…are you using a custom one? If not which are you using? You mentioned that they were matched, but if this is a custom easy setup copied from an earlier installations there could be a mismatch in them and they could cause crashing. If so try to recreate the custom setup from one of our CURRENT default easy setups.
**How often is random?
**Which plugins (see above)?Anyways, let me know.

December 16, 2010 at 7:22 pm in reply to: Decklink Studio driver/firmware issues with OSX 10.5.8 and FCP 6.0.6It can take a day or two to get to all the emails. Unfortunately we cannot always get to all the emails the same day (of course that’s what we shoot for). However, rest assured this issue is addressed in the next driver version. This issue has been around for a bit now, so I am not sure how far back you’d have to go driver wise to find one that didn’t have it.
Now as for the computer booting slowly, I am not seeing this in my labs. I have seen something similar to this when installing/changing drive configurations. You’ve probably already done this, but if you are using an external array, make sure that the drivers are current for the HBA.
