We are looking at those motherboards now. It will take us a little bit (the board is on order) as they have only just been released.
But as soon as we have that info we will post it in our compatibility section.

Just install the Same version of the Decklink drivers on the laptop. that will install all the plugins and codecs necessary. It doesn’t require the card to work.

That program that is running is what tries to update the firmware on the board. If it doesn’t run properly it will put the card in a “service” mode, where it will be detected by the system but essentially unusable. All options in the control panel should be greyed out if this is the case.
CheckVersionPCI.exe should run and terminate. If it is not, kill it from the task manager and run it manually from the C:\Program Files (x86)\Blackmagic Design\Decklink folder.
Try running that and see if it updates firmware. Once that’s done give it a reboot and check to make sure that process has terminated like it was supposed to.
If it doesn’t, give us a call and we’ll dig deeper.

January 27, 2011 at 11:06 pm in reply to: intensity pro compatibility with x58 motherboardThe original (read gen 1 x58) motherboards were problematic with our 1x PCI-express cards. However since then the chipset has been updated by intel and now works just fine.
We’ve tested both Asus and Gigabyte x58 motherboards and as long as they are newer boards (as in not sitting on a shelf for a year) they should be fine.

January 27, 2011 at 11:03 pm in reply to: Last check on Ultrascope issue before puntingYeah, we are working on getting some newer motherboards up there. But these systems are not that finicky. They don’t have any strict hard drive requirements.
They just need a 1x lane PCI-e slot (probably best not shared with the graphics slot) and a graphics card HIGHER than those we’ve tested. Again the biggest thing with the graphics card is the texture fill rate. Quadros have a problem with this but almost any mid level gaming card will work.
Also i’ve added a few more graphics cards to our list of compatible graphics cards (one is fairly spendy as it was a personal card that I brought in to test).

It will be much easier for us to see any render issues there.

I’m not sure how this relates to Chris’ post. This might have needed it’s own thread.
But from what I can see is it looks like you haven’t changed the settings in the Blackmagic Control panel.
In windows. Click Start/Windows button -> Control Panel -> Blackmagic Control panel. Then under input or output make sure you have the drop down set to accept Y/Pb/Pr (Y, Y-b, Y-r or component). Once these are set you should be able to get input.
Output should always be streaming (component or SDI), so if it is not, there may be a connection issue. Either way, if you are having trouble with the output, just give your local Blackmagic Design office a call and our guys will help walk you through it.

So once you set the upscaling (input) option that you are looking for you will want to open a project setting that matches your TARGET resolution.
So if you are going for 1080i, then you need to choose that project setting in FCP or Premiere to get that to capture.

Here’s the problem. And it is as frustrating for us as it is for you guys, that’s for sure.
When we first were getting close to release (before NAB) there was only 1 laptop available that even had USB 3 on it. That was the HP Envy.
Specifically it was the 15″ (there were no other sizes with USB3 at that time) with the i7 chip (and graphics card though the cards were the same GPU level).
We purchased several of these and they worked fine.
Shortly thereafter several other Envy laptops came out including the 17″ and the 13″. We tried those and shockingly they didn’t work. We found this odd, but we noted the limitation.
Shortly there after the Envy 15″ dropped off the site and was unavailable. So when it showed back up we got one of the new ones and it also did not work.
So we dug into why. Turns out that at some point after the 15″ came out they designed the others on a new motherboard (which did not work for us). Then they re-released the 15″ to the world and it got an “update” as well to this new motherboard and hence it also does not work.
Since then we’ve tried several laptops. A number of Asus models, a Dell as well. All of them behaved exactly the same. Not enough bandwidth.
Technically why this happens is due to how much bandwidth is on the PCI-e bus on these laptops. They are not given enough isochronous bandwidth and so the error pops up.
So we have hope for some of the emerging laptops that are coming out with second generation motherboards that are supposed to have more bandwidth to the USB3 ports.
Until that time we’ve made sure to mention that there are NO current laptops that support USB 3 for OUR products. We try to be as transparent about this as we can. Of course we want to see this technology become as common place as a mouse, but USB3 is still in its infancy and our confidence is high that when USB 3 becomes more commonplace and mature that it will be available on almost any device.
Until then, we are limited to either using PCI-express addin boards for desktop/micro ATX systems (luggables), and laptop manufacturers.
Anyways, To long, didn’t read version. I know you guys are frustrated and we share some of that. But we are being diligent about this.

Right now Timecode out of the Decklink HD Extreme 3D+ only works on the resolve application. The Decklink HD Extreme 3D+ supports RP188 output if the Decklink SDK was used to do the integration. This is the case with Resolve, but it is not implemented in FCP or Premiere.
