    Hello
I plan to buy an intensity pro.
But before, I want to make sure this will be compatible with my x58 motherboard (gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R)
    Is it a safe buy?
The support site of blackmagic doesn’t give any accurate info.
    Thanks.

For the Pro card it may, see this link for compatible MB for the shuttle, main difference is it need a USB 3 port. I’d get one BM states is compatible.

I had already read the support page for the shuttle but thanks anyway.
That being said, any happy user of intensity pro with an x58 chipset? or of the shuttle with a gigabyte x58 board with support of usb3 through internal nec chip?

The original (read gen 1 x58) motherboards were problematic with our 1x PCI-express cards. However since then the chipset has been updated by intel and now works just fine.

We’ve tested both Asus and Gigabyte x58 motherboards and as long as they are newer boards (as in not sitting on a shelf for a year) they should be fine.

    Sincerely,

    Thanks a lot Joshua!
    One more question:

Do the SDI Decklink cards have the same x58 compatibility?

That’s not entirely true. I just got the Intel DX58SO2 mobo, which is version 2 of the problematic mobo listed on Blackmagic’s site – and my Intensity Pro doesn’t work on this v2 card either!
