    Hi,

I not sure, but does the 5D come with composite out, with the RCA left right audio. Because if it does, you can get a little RCA to 3.5mm jack adapter thing, and plug your headphones into that. But not 100% on if that would work. Or if it will turn off your screen like it does with the HDMI plugged. But if it does work it should cost more than 10 bucks. Just stop by Radio Stack, and get that adapter converter thing, and you’ll be good to go.

If you can shoot in 720p I think the 7D can shoot for 30 minutes if that helps abit. But if you are looking for pro audio inputs, you can get a Zoom H4n, which has both XLR and 1/4 audio inputs on the bottom. And can do 4 channel audio recording with the 2 mics on the Zoom and 2 plugged in. And that runs for about $300, and then you can get a mic so thats about maybe $600ish depending on the mic, and then you just sync it in post with the video. So if you get the Zoom all you got to do is find a camera with the best video quality you can get for your budget. I think Sony is coming out or came out with a new line of HD camcorders recently that looked pretty good, and Canon had a little tiny camera that was pretty sweet. But not sure. You could also look at a few Go Pro HD cameras, for like those side shots, a few secondary cameras, to go with your main one. And those go for about $250 with a cool suction cup mount with it. But I hope this helps you out.

I’m not sure about the ISO settings for the 550D because I haven’t gotten mine yet. But a good way to get clean low light footage is to get a fast prime lens. Such as the Canon 50mm f/1.8 it sells for around 100 dollars, and with that big of an aperture you can get great low light stuff. Which lens are you using?

    Norman,

The Zoom H4n, does the 4 Channel with the 2 onbroad mics, which aren’t too bad. And the other two channels through the XLRs.

Are you going to have a switcher broad? You can do the fading with that. I did a quick google search and found this

Is that something you are looking for?

if the image does move, you can just put the same image in the comp again, and bump the ends together so it seems like the image doesn’t stop, but it really the layer under it just become visible. Or something along those lines.

    HI

Yes, this camera will work at home, but not to to sure on the show motion effects. I have a Canon Xl-1, and it have a slow shutter speed setting but I only used it for time lapse, and I sped it up. But it will work with Premiere Pro and all the Adobe software. It has a firewire out.

And I am actually selling my Xl-1 if you are interested in that, we can talk.

I have a Xl1, and did some long duration shooting with through firewire, and the audio became out of sync. I not 100% that it was the fireaire, but I would recommend that you get a capture card for the computer you are going into. Blackmagic makes some good capture devices, they have the Intensity Pro which is PCI express 1x card, and a USB video recorder. Then you could just run, a 50ft siamese video audio cable from each cable to your control point. Which is cheaper than a 50ft firewire. And the quality will be better since the audio and video won’t be compressed down one cable.

    Hope this helps,

    Hi Norma

I would recommend the Zoom H4n, because the 4 channel recording, if you have more than one person in the frame that you are interview you can have the two mics on the Zoom for a front ambient sound mic, and have two lavalier mics on the people, or some thing like that.

And for lenses, Sigma makes some fairy cheap lenses, they have a 10-20mm wide angel, and if you have the 7D, it will be a 16mm or 32mm. So that could work, and you can always check out Ebay for a deal. I’ve some good ones on there.
