Posted by Ruben Ryapolov on April 4, 2010 at 7:15 amHello,
Im a beginner at professinal video and
I want to buy (2) Canon XL1S’s..
Im going to be LIVE Streaming..
Is there such thing as wireless firewire?
or how could I stream without a 50ft firewire cable..Also the reason I want 2 cameras is because I want to
fade video from one to another.. How do I do that? Thanks in advance,

I have a Xl1, and did some long duration shooting with through firewire, and the audio became out of sync. I not 100% that it was the fireaire, but I would recommend that you get a capture card for the computer you are going into. Blackmagic makes some good capture devices, they have the Intensity Pro which is PCI express 1x card, and a USB video recorder. Then you could just run, a 50ft siamese video audio cable from each cable to your control point. Which is cheaper than a 50ft firewire. And the quality will be better since the audio and video won’t be compressed down one cable.
Hope this helps,

April 7, 2010 at 9:23 pmAre you going to have a switcher broad? You can do the fading with that. I did a quick google search and found this
https://www.edirol.com/index.php/en/products-mainmenu-421/video-mixing-mainmenu-386/35-v-4-four-channel-video-mixer-with-effects
Is that something you are looking for? -
