When I need to make a dvd from an HD project, here’s what works best for me:

    Original AVCHD 1920×1080 60i
    SV11 Properties: HD 1080-60i (1920×1080, 29.970 fps)(default)

Render Video: Sony AVC (AVCHD 1920×1080-60i)Default except No Audio (this will result in .m2ts file)
Rendeer Audio: Dolby digital AC-3 Pro: Stereo DVD (default)

New project with same properties but import above rendered .m2ts file

Render: DVD Architect NTSC Widescreen video stream (Default except constant bit rate 8,000,000 bps)
Use previously rendered audio (same filename/ same location)

I’ve tried numerous other methods but nothing works better for me as far as quality & speed.

However, if someone can suggest a better method, I’m open to giving it a try!

[Stephen Crye] “I finally figured it out myself. All one has to do is uncheck “use legacy disk drivers”.”

Stephen, I’ve puzzled over this but your post is all I needed. Thanks!

Be sure that Preferences/Video tab GPU is not off. It should indicate what video card you are using.

The main reason I upgraded to 11 was for the awesome preview capabilities when compared with 10.

Nick, I’m assuming your Dynamic RAM max preview is set high enough. Also, have you added more events to your timeline or media to your project that may be using most of your RAM? Since you’re running w/2 GB of RAM your project may not have much to spare.

  • [Lance Bachelder] “Has anyone ever had this working with a particular graphics card or is it just not working period?”

Actually it works with my card for rendering but with limitations. I’ve done many tests with the same clip in Vegas 11 as follows:

Clip = mts file straight a/v no effects duration = 4 seconds

Render: Main Concept AVC Internet HD 1080p Default Template
Result: Some artifacting; 10 second render; 5,766 kb file

Render: Same as above except encode with CPU only
Result: No artifacting; 15 second render; 7,374 kb file

On the positive side, my preview is smooth and full screen – a huge improvement over Vegas 10.

I have contacted Sony about this and have not gotten any word about any updates to correct. I just use 10 when I need to render for internet – not the most efficient but workable for now.

If you do an internet search you will get some help. I particularly liked https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQdz5EHv120 when I was learning how to do this.

Note: When I click on the link from this page I get error 404; however, if I copy paste into my browser I’m good to go.

I use Picasa 3 (free from Google) to crop with 16:9 template and then you have the choice of compressing or keeping full resolution.
