It likely has something to do with how the nodes are wired, but although it does depart from the legacy DaVinci approach, at least it is far,far more accessible to flip the matte/mask priority – which was VERY difficult to execute in Apple COLOR, when trying to combine a vignette with a secondary HSL qualifier.

The more complete fix would be to ‘fill in the blanks’, and make a much bigger original scene so that you can rotate the frame. If its a static architectural background, this might not be as challenging as it sounds.

Generally agree with slightly overshooting, for example, 4.5K for 4K, which allows for comfortable smoothing, stabilization, and scene-stitching. Too large a difference between the origination and delivery usually results in re-sampling errors, aliasing, and so on.

if you are not doing anything sophisticated, but really only cycling the project to essentially troubleshoot it, then really almost anything (within the recommended guideline) will work. Many of us are still running the application under Snow Leopard, but I have to admit that 10.8 might be in the near future for one of my systems, now that there is a somewhat better alternative to the Q4000. The problem with that is that the Mac 680 is a double wide and won’t go in Slot 2.

You might be interested to investigate Fraunhofer’s EasyDCP Player2, to be shown next week. One of the announced features is SDI playback through selected video cards, eg., BM Decklink. So if you have an SDI-equipped projector (I have a Christie), that addresses that, but it still leaves authors open to the vague differences between all the legacy servers that are out there.
I have to imagine that theatre owners are going to have to come to terms with the rapid obsolescence and turnover of technical assets. For nearly a hundred years, they have been able to more or less play a universally standard distribution format (35mm print) and now they’re going to have to cope with some bloody thing after another every 6 months. Is this really a good idea?

There’s an application called DCP_Inspect, but you have to be a Terminal genius to install and run it.

If the clip has the same identifiers, it should auto-link through the Master Timeline, unless you’ve got this function turned off.
If it doesn’t, it is doubtful that ColorTrace will work automatically, and you will be into a manual trace.
