If the X version of “Share” to make a single DVD works as well as it did in FCP7, then why not use that? Otherwise, why wouldn’t it be possible to export to Compressor, make your m2v and ac3 files as per traditional workflow…? Or did they take out the DVD droplets?

You can already do this with the iMovie iPad app for 1% of the FCX pricetag and… you can import your cut into FCX — one of the few imports actually supported. You don’t need remote desktop interfaces.

Oh, actually I see editing becoming a “shared whiteboard”, where everybody in the room has an iPadX linked to a master FCX instance and are furiously fighting it out on the same main story as to where a cut should go, what take to use, you know this would be a great game show. It used to be called “agency work”, but with only one person controlling the timeline-thingy, I know its now called something else. That person, called the “editor” was the only one, usually, who could get voted off the island, but in this paradigm, if one of the contributors started having their ideas rejected more often than not, they could be “fired”. I like it.

I’d have to agree, and as soon as my eCinema is all milked-out, its where I will be looking first. Graded a drama series on one earlier this year — production company bought several more. It might have the feel of going away from the brand-name offerings, but in this case, its the dedicated sword-maker. Go after any size “rat” you like…. (err Kill Bill…)

Well, I was thinking about SHAKE, which has come up a couple of times in the “conversation”.

Yes, it still does run under Leopard and Snow Leopard. It did break once, when Apple flipped the ‘endian-ness’ for 10-bit processing and at that point, we couldn’t do anything in the program with Pro
Res. A 4.1 fix did get issued, so EOL is not necessarily total… however, I do still have to go through the entire process if a reinstall is required. (reallly? who needs to re-install Apple software?)

Why use that old dinosaur app (SHAKE?)…. because its sophisticated.

FCX, because it does not support SDI output, is not a candidate for adding closed captioning to tape programming.

Conceivably, you could use something like the AJA VTR Xchange stand-alone module to master a closed caption tape master. Not as convenient as an ETT from the master sequence in FCP7… but…

I’m on record in many places as hating FCP’s ETT module with a violet fury anyway. They have finally succeeded in fixing that problem, right? Just hit “delete”. See? No Problem.

The best panels are the ones that are specifically built for DaVinci Resolve.

Otherwise, your choose one of the third-party builds might depend on what you might have used in the past, or whether you would like to perhaps use this panel with other applications. You should be able to search out the devices and check the specs. Afrer that it will be down to your personal feel.

Apple generated text in FCP is always going to rasterized as this is video, not print. Arabic text is going to be a challenge at the resolution you’re working in, but even taking that into account, there still may be sequence settings and FCP preview issues that no one here can predict that may be contributing to the loss of resolution.
