Pixelated text for subtitles in arabic
I am currently working on a project in Final Cut Pro. I am now adding subtitles. The episodes are going to be shown in the middle east and are in Uncompressed 8-Bit PAL 48 kHz at 25 fps.That was the format of the episode when given to me. When I add the subtitles, the text is very pixelated at any size and I cannot find a way to make clean lines. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

What is being used to generate the subtitles and how are you adding them to the timeline?
Uncompressed 8 bit should not give you bad text, so I suspect it is to do with how the subtitles have been created.

I’ve tried using the text generator and the lower third text. On my own projects I have never had this issue. I even tried exporting a video and the text is still grainy.

So it is internal FCP text generation. Where did you get the font from and what sort of font? eg True Type etc

Well I’ve tried on my projects and I am just using final cut/apple stock text. The lady I’m doing this for is just using apple’s stock Arabic text. We aren’t using any downloaded fonts. My computer doesn’t look grainy when I export a video. But her project on her video stayed grainy. Shouldn’t the text be vector?

Apple generated text in FCP is always going to rasterized as this is video, not print. Arabic text is going to be a challenge at the resolution you’re working in, but even taking that into account, there still may be sequence settings and FCP preview issues that no one here can predict that may be contributing to the loss of resolution.
