Reading through a couple of related threads, I have to wonder if all the Q4000’s woes are not necessarily genetic. There are reports that shutting down some multi-tasking applications (like Flash player), although this may be more a function of a single-GPU instance like Resolve Lite, does result in freeing up some cycles.

I don’t honestly know how aggressive Resolve is with respect to annexing system resources in its thirst for speed — although I do know that Media Composer 6 and Resolve don’t play nicely together and don’t share cards well.

BTW, how does one configure order the Cubix 16x order? Do you have to specify the 16x host card? Anyway its a digression — I am in the market to build a new GPU farm. I would love to try out a pair of flashed 480’s but I don’t even know how to get through to the supplier.

Or what about Apple COLOR, where they put the tires back on, but backwards? (Yes, especially for “fancy cars”, tires are directional, but may be spelled ‘tyres’, in that case.)

Why not assemble the dailies in FCP or whatever, send it, grade it, pull it back in and paste the corrected media into a duplicate sequence or paste the audio into the graded new sequence?

As for syncing dailies where none of the timecode actually matches, brother you said a mouthful.
I have to laugh that FCX claims to have a bulletproof sub-frame autosync. Seriously?

Creating a Conform with handles
You can create a version of a timeline with handles. This is particularly helpful if you plan to record the
timeline to tape and need pre-roll time.
First, right mouse click on the Conform Session to which handles should be added (it can be the Master
Session too!). From the list of options select ‘Create Session with Handles.’ Select the length of handles
to be added, enter a value for the Pre and Post Handle size (frames), and click ‘OK’ to confirm. Within
this window, you may also select ‘Source Mode’ to apply handles to the clips and then sort them in
source timecode order. You can also ’Force Black Handles’ rather than use the clips images.

I think the poster wants to pull apart the Red, Green, and Blue content of the original source media, not necessarily add a matte.

This was a node in the COLORFX window in COLOR so that an operator can perform independent operations on individual color channels (like selective noise reduction or chroma blurring to “improve” matte separations), and it also exists as an elective process in most FX compositing tools.

What you are asking about is actually an “outside node” –> right click on the node you wish to affect.

Curves are mostly mouse-driven. Clicking in the image with the eyedropper will add a point to the curve.

I wish it added a “pint” to the curve.

What I think we are sometimes expected to do is call the Master Timeline to essentially correct the entire source clip… but there is a “create a session with handles” option that does accomplish your aims. Try page 143 in the Conform chapter.

Also has to be a multiple of the horizontal scanning frequency (15.75 KHz) to come out to colour-framed subcarrier phase on odd/even fields. This is compounded slightly by the existence of half-lines in analog NTSC. An active NTSC field is 262.5 lines, so each one starts 90 degrees out of phase with the preceding field. This used to be very important in composite baseband editing, but the advent of component processing (Betacam) changed the parameters. Its why there is a 2F/4F switch on the front panel of those decks that were also expected to function in the analog NTSC baseband world.

The 15.75 KHz scan is the source of the high-pitched squeal that CRTs used to produce as a result of the flyback transformer that generated the sawtooth voltage that sprayed the beam across the faceplate.
