June 8, 2015 at 7:50 pm in reply to: C4D Team render – rendering on large number of machinesUltimately, these are more of networking questions than C4D questions, but some help:
1. I’d look to have the programs launch at a specific time – say 6PM or whatever, and they’ll be ready to go. Programs exist to launch applications at specific events. I have the couple of machines in my office just launch it at start up and it stays in the background.
2. Wake-on-LAN is your friend. For a PC, you’ll want to access the BIOS. For a Mac, it seems it’s possible, but I couldn’t find a conclusive answer. Some links to get you started:

Sweep Nurbs is your friend. A lot of tutorials online about how to get it to work.
Hierarchy to get started:
Sweep object (found by click-holding on the “Subdivision Surface” icon)
Circle Spline

June 8, 2015 at 4:31 pm in reply to: Need to have x-particles disappear when hitting specific objectsThen I don’t know – my next steps would be checking the manual for how to enable that objects box, googling around, or…upgrading to 3. It’s pretty awesome. You can try the X-Partlcles forum, if you haven’t already.

Export to DXF, polyline. It takes whatever is in your TOP viewport window. I made a cube, put it in a cloner, lined it up so I liked what was in the Top viewport. Saved as DXF polyline, and opened that in Illustrator, and had all 3 cubes as square lines, as expected.

June 8, 2015 at 3:51 pm in reply to: C4dD Select a Certain Object from the reflectionIf I understand what you need, right-click the object in your Objects window, go to CINEMA 4D Tags, select the Compositing tag. One of the options will be “Seen by Reflection” – uncheck that.

June 8, 2015 at 3:43 pm in reply to: Trapcode Particular: Layer Order Problem when trying to use Adjustment Layer and Obscuration LayerGood luck. Feel free to ask any more questions if you get into a bind!
You can also put CC Glass on the precomp without the precomp having the white layer. Change the glass’ mode to alpha or something else, and that gives an effect (tried it earlier but can’t remember which mode looked the best).

June 8, 2015 at 3:40 pm in reply to: Subdivide surface of extruded object / some clever work aroundWhat about just separating the vector out for France (or whichever question) and making that a new object & applying textures/elevation to it? Then have one object for the map as a whole, but missing France?
I haven’t done elevation stuff before, so I don’t know if that would mess it all up or not. Additionally, you might be able to make the whole thing editable polygons & separate out France that way.

June 8, 2015 at 3:33 pm in reply to: Need to have x-particles disappear when hitting specific objectsAdd the xpKill modifer, set it to Independent on the first Object Properties “Mode,” and “Objects” on the second “Mode.” Put the objects in the Objects box.

June 8, 2015 at 2:26 pm in reply to: Trapcode Particular: Layer Order Problem when trying to use Adjustment Layer and Obscuration LayerI’m not entirely sure what you want the top particles to look like since they’ll be interacting with your footage on some level; but I derped around in AE for a bit to come up with something for this. You can try precomping your top layer of Particular, put the BG in there, apply CC Glass on that precomp back in your main comp, and try playing with both mix modes and the “obsolete” effect Luma Key to get a look you want. If you had a screen/description of how you want the particles to look atop the footage, it’d be helpful.
