I am a true convert to X. I have spent many years with FCP7 and Avid. I saw this change coming as soon as X came out. When I sat down to start a cut with X it made me so frustrated, but, over time I kept with it until that clicked* moment. Post FCPX launch i realized that I needed to learn Premiere as well to stay relevant. Honestly, side by side I will work with FCPX for most of my work. I created a broadcast workflow for a cable movie station. We created a huge amount of promo material every month all using FCP7 and AE. I know that if I had to I could maintain the same workflow for broadcast using FCPX and probably do it in less time. Creatively FCPX gives me the flexibility I never had with another NLE.
Most of those things you are looking for are there now. I know FCPX isn’t perfect by any means but we still haven’t seen a 10.1 yet! It’s so powerful. You just have to give it a chance.
I just finished a sizzle reel for a client. They were so happy with the end result and it took me half the time to cut and finish then it would have in FCP7.

I’ve got one. Keyboard shortcut for on/off scopes O and one more, move the gang feature for curves out of the drop down menu on to the HUD above curves. Maybe BM already did this in 10.

That would be sweet.

My material is Prores 422HQ 23.98. I used the FCPXML out of davinci, and with a little jimming I got it to open fine in FCPX. All good. Thanks!

I know that Davinci has an xml export for FCPX, but my client is on Legacy. I was just trying to see if it worked. I will look at the manual. Thanks!
