  • Go to beginning of clip – keyboard shortcut?

I’ve been cutting in FCP X for a while, and this one drives me a little nuts. If I’m playing through a clip in an Event and I want to quickly go back to the beginning of that clip, I instinctively hit the up arrow (muscle memory from 12 years of legacy FCP) and I accidentally choose a different clip in the event. Is there a way to do this with the keyboard or do I really need to grab the mouse and move the playhead?

    Thanks,
    Bill

I know. Me too. But shift-i will get you there if you don’t already have a range set. Or hitting ; or ‘ in the event browser will take you to the top or bottom of the clip.

I have found one bug where it doesn’t work. If you match frame from a clip in the timeline, it seems that you are stuck in that range, even for playback. the only way to “unstuck” it is to go to another clip and then jog back. The good news is that the range set when performing the matchframe seems to stay put.

Brilliant. I’ll give that a try today. Thanks!
