Another Mac Pro Hardware Config question
Getting my hands on a Mac Pro Tower and would like to add a Quadro 4000 for Davinci without buying a Cubix Expander. Here’s what I’ve got.
Mac 2.66Ghz, 6-Core Intel Xeon
24Gb RAMPCI – Slots
Slot 1 Radeon 5770 (or an already purchased ATI Radeon X1900XT)
Slot 2 Quadro 4000 without the extra SDI component
Slot 3 Allegro USB 3.0 PCI express
Slot 4 Decklink Ultrastudio 4kWill this PCI configuration work?

yes, but you’d be better off switching the Q4000 to GUI and getting a better nVidia card for GPU

It depends on your operating system. Almost unlimited if you are currently MtnLion 10.8.3, except the new Titans may need 10.8.4, which is still in beta, and may have to wait until at least WWDC June.
Seriously though, the Q4000 is approximately the lamest CUDA card you could possibly buy and still use.
There are the macvidcards for sub-Mountain Lion, and in-between if you don’t need the boot up Apple screen. There are dozens of threads discussing the topic on this forum.
