You say you are capturing on a DSR-11, via composite – how are you controlling the decks? AFAIK, that deck can only be controlled via firewire… (unless it’s a UK version with RS422)
If you do not have a firewire cable you’ll have to capture on the fly. In the digitize window, make sure you’ve selected composite as your input.’

Well, I don’t know about free – although there should have been some tutorials that came with the system…
Being a firm believer in the adage ‘you get what you pay for’, Avid has some excellent training DVD’s on thier website. Or you could attend a training center class.
Avid routinely has roadshows to show off thier latest and greatest, but it’s not really designed as a training session.

I attended an Avid roadshow Thursday. While waiting to talk to one of the demo artists, I overheard this (paraphrased) conversation:
“I’m using Avid XPress Pro but it keeps crashing.”
“What’s your system?”
“Oh, I’ve got a P4 with 4gb of RAM and a water cooled Matrox video card…”
“Matrox cards aren’t certified with Avid. You need an NVidia card.”
“…Oh.”My point? Stick with what Avid says works. FCP (and Mac flavored Avids) don’t have this problem, because only one company makes G5’s – Apple. It’s very easy to configure a Mac because there aren’t that many options. There are hundreds (thousands?) of PC makers. Millions of possible configurations. Avid cannot test every possible combination to see if it works. If they did, we’d never see an upgrade.
Just thought I’d throw that in.

If you’re trying making money, buy from a reseller. The increased cost up front will more than pay for themselves in the long run. Instead of tweaking under the hood, you’ll be editing.

What are your system specs? What are you trying to export (clip, sequence, multiple sequences)? What are you trying to export to?

First off,ebay is your friend.
The first thing I’d check is the cable from the mac to the meridian. Mine went out about 4 years ago, and I was able to get one from Avid. You didn’t mention if you had assurance, but you may be able to score a single cable on ebay.
The Meridian boardset is pretty bombproof (mine’s been going since 1999), but again, ebay is your friend.
If you’ve got the cash (and can find one), upgrade your CPU to a (recommended) dual processor 1.8ghz G4, or a silver door 833mhz G4. You can only use OS 10.2.6, but I think you’ll see a noticable increase in performance
Although the Meridian system was probably the most stable pre-DNA system, it might be time to investigate moving to a Mojo/Adrenaline system. Having the ability to update your firmware via software updates, plus the fact Meridian is no longer supported (ver. 12.0.5 is the last upgrade) might make that jump more paletable.

Have you set up your decks in deck preferences? (settings tab>deck preferences) and double click on each deck and select the correct keyspan channel.

The easiest is SoundForge.
You could try using one of the AudioSuite plugins- I think it’s called time expansion.
It’s in Tool>Audiosuite
