Are you talking about using PShop to rotoscope (coloring/adjusting each individual frame of the scene) or a general lightening / darkening of the scene? You can certainly rotoscope clips using PShop from the Avid.

As I said in my first post, 4.6 is not compatible with QT7.X… You need to revert back to the proper version of quicktime. Then try importing audio….

What version software are you using? What are your system specs? How much memory do you have?

Well, I guess that’s something else Avid sucks at…

But seriously folks, have you looked in the options part of the dialog box? I think (I’m not in front of an Avid right now) there are options to select or deselect audio.

Also, what version of QT are you using? Avid 4.6 will not work well with QT 7.X, and there are all sorts of isues this causes.

Check out your audio project settings, and figure out what sample rate your QT file is. If you try to bring in mismatched audio sample rates, you’ll have issues as well…

Are you on the right input? There are three input tabs – composite, component and IEE1394. You have no control in firewire, a little more in component, and the most in composite…

First, you’ll want to export a QT reference out of the Avid. Since Sorenson Squeeze is bundled with (most) Avid software, it’s easiest to use it. the 2gb .avi issue is an OS thing, not Avid; regardless, Avid has never been good at exporting anything other than same as source stuff. Using a third party encoder gives you the most control. Do a search on ‘export settings’ in the COW should give you a plethora of information on the subject.

The burner shouldn’t be that much of an issue. I’d look for any software bundled with Avid, specifically Sorenson and Reel DVD, and use that. As far as the Adrenaline workflow, I don’t use Adrenaline, so I can’t comment specifically. HOWEVER, if it’s the same as XPress Pro, try this –

-Right click on the sequence in the bin. You should see a menu come up – select encoding>sorenson. When the meun comes up, click on options; I think in there is a ‘use media references over LAN’, or something like that (I’m not at work…). See if you can get a QT reference out that way. That should also be in the standard export dialog as well. Within Sorenson, depending on what version you have, there is a ‘auto deinterlacing’ filter. Take it off – it is evil and will cause all who touch it to lose hair. Then use Reel DVD. If you don’t have any of these programs bundled with your system, I’d invest in Sorenson at least. Nero, from what I’ve seen, doens’t have nearly the level of control Sorenson does.

Why not go with a DVCPro deck? An AJ-SD93 might be the perfect deck for you. And though you can’t record in DVCAM, you can certainly can play the format back. I can’t comment on where to pick one up, since I have’nt lived in the UK for 12 years…
