I’ve lost 25 pounds so far since May not drinking soda. I also bike 6 the 6 miles to work whenever possible, save gas, is healthy & I’m more awake & don’t need my morning coffee.
I saw Shane Ross at the LAFCPUG meeting, (haven’t seen him for awhile) & he said “you’ve lost weight huh”? So it’s noticeable.

Hey guys, we at CalDigit have developed a little comparison chart to show you all the features found in the CalDigit VR.
As far as RAID 1 and video, yes you are wasting a lot space and performance for that back up. However if you really need some mission critical at least you know you are safe. But that is the beauty of the CalDigit VR, you can use it in RAID 0 or RAID 1.
Don’t hesitate to ask if you have any additional questions.

Really, you need to ask yourself a number of questions when considering an investment in a RAID.
1. What is my time worth? Is it really worth the hassle of a DIY RAID?
2. How many different pieces of hardware am I looking at? Is the controller card made by the same company as the chassis for single vendor support? Does the chassis have modular design for easy upgrading or replacement of parts?
3. How is the support? What happens if I run into problems? Am I going to get the run around?
4. Does the storage provider you’re considering dealing with REALLY KNOW & UNDERSTAND all the different aspects of VIDEO? Do they ask the right questions?
All of this is what sets us CalDigit apart & head & shoulders above the competition.
Here’s a typical scenario of someone that ended up buying a CalDigit solution & BEING VERY HAPPY WITH IT, after the hassle of a DIY or ME TOO storage solution:

Call us, experience the difference of a true single vendor support product line, with everything needed in one box.

December 8, 2008 at 5:33 pm in reply to: RocketRAID 2310 sata controller and Intensity cardsThe 2310 card is similar to 2314.
One card is a internal 4 port, the other is a external 4 port. Both cards are very affordable software raid cards, but with a little extra money you could get a hardware based CalDigit RAID card, which is now on SALE for a low $349.00.
Take a look at this comparison between the CalDigit RAID Card & HDElement & the G-speed ES

The FASTA-1ex card was designed with only 1 port. Other manufactures may have two ports on their express card, but that causes problems when plugging in another cable when one is connected, the card will want to eject. This unwanted action really defeats the purpose of having 2 ports on the card. Additionally there is no speed advantage to a 2 port card, the eSATA ExpressCard itself is only capable of 100MB/s max, having 2 ports really doesn’t give you any advantage over a 1 port card. Our FASTA-1ex card supports port multiplied storage products.

Gentlemen,
I thought I’d give my 2 cents as it’s appropriate in this thread.
Both Bob and Jeremy are right, and they always are. 🙂The Hardware RAID based CalDigit HDPro or HDOne products fully support laptops via our eLane-1ex. With the CalDigit setup, you can edit up to uncompressed HD in RAID 5 with sustained performance, and this setup is the perfect complement to the AJA ioHD, Mac or PC.

On PC or Mac Workstation platforms, our CalDigit RAID card supports expansion with 4 drives internal on a MacPro & 12 drives External via our 4 bay HDElement product.

Ricardo.
Hope it’s ok if I chime in to share some info.
If you care & frankly you should, the RocketRAID 2322 that you mentioned is a software RAID card.
Your CPU’s resources is better to be used for your OS & applications & not for RAID computation.
Hardware RAID is really recommended over software RAID, especially for high end editing, which requires more CPU resources.
