UPDATE: we downloaded and installed the latest version of BlackMagic Design’s Video Desktop (V10.4).
This corrected the issue. We now have external monitor playout.

This will occur depeding on where you click on the clip.
If you click on (or maybe close enough) to the little FX tag, you’ll get the short menu related to FX. Elsewhere on the clip, you get the full context-sensitive menu.

Also, tell us more information about your computer, storage, where media is stored, and the version of AE you are using.

Zoom all the way in, select the gap, and press SHIFT+DEL on the keyboard. That is the shortcut for “ripple delete”. It should eliminate the gap, while moving everything to the right of that point on the timeline with it.
Make sure you have all tracks selected that you wish to follow the move, and unselect those you do NOT wish to follow the move.

Agree with Gary. Your standard Betacam tapes should play back. You would not be able to record with them.
We still have an 1800 in the rack. Although we don’t use it anymore, we would occasionally get standard Betacam tapes, and played them without difficulty.

LOL. The same folks who turned 5GB of storage into 2GB with 3GB unallocated, and insist that everything is as it should be?
But at least now we can access the keyboard shortcut menu, which would not display in CC2013.

Have you cleared cache lately? If not, clear cache and see if the offending item disappears.

One way would be to right-click the clip in the bin, selected Modify – Audio Tracks.
Change it to stereo in two channels.
Now you have each channel separate (in audio 1 and audio 2 in your timeline) and you can center up as you see fit.
Note this change will only affect the clip in the bin and in the Source monitor. For the change to appear in the timeline you will need to drop it in once again.

An update:
On the advice of one of the Adobe folks,we created and opened a new Ppro project and under The Window dropdown menu, went to the Workspace submenu and unchecked “Import Workspace from Projects”.
We closed that empty project and opened a project that had previously crashed repeatedly, and it opened normally.
We will likely trash Preferences for the user. Just this one change corrected the issue, but it suggests issues with user Prefs, for sure.
