I’d normally recommend disabling plugins that cause crashes, however AUPitch is a system Audio Unit. It might be a sign of wider problems with your system, but since it’s sound-related, one thing to try is to look at Audio MIDI Setup in /Applications/Utilities. I haven’t had any specific problems with FCP 7 there but I always have to disable Adobe Prelude there to get Pro Tools to operate properly.

Try running QuickFix or Housekeeper in Pro Maintenance Tools as they clear the Audio Unit cache.

I agree, I was a little confused by this behavior the first time, although that might be because I was used to the old way FCPX managed projects. Either way, I’ve reported it as a bug to Apple so hopefully they’ll improve this behavior in a future update.

We’re aware of this and are planning a blog post but haven’t had time to post it yet.
When resetting preferences (whether manually or with Preference Manager) FCPX forgets which libraries it should load. You can specify them by going to File > Open Library > Other > Locate and browsing for it.
I would say that in my experience FCPX’s library code is pretty buggy though, so you may be the victim of bugs related to that, but those issues are issues you will experience with or without Preference Manager.

I just wanted to clarify because it may not be clear to others reading your comment that the latest version of Preference Manager is compatible with Mavericks, but older versions aren’t, so if you experience problems make sure you’re on the latest version.

If you look at the sidebar on the right of the page I linked to you’ll find older versions for OS X 10.4 and 10.5.

The ID is inside the CurrentVersion file so it doesn’t change if you create a copy outside of FCPX.

You can’t do that because FCPX won’t like more than one event having the same ID. I’d recommend using XML files in the template then importing into FCPX for each project.
Also, future features will benefit from the data being in XML format.
