  • Video Render files are being saved on internal drive. Why?

Posted by Vic Noseworthy on October 29, 2013 at 8:40 pm

    Hi, folks.
I have been editing using an external drive, but didn’t realize the render files are going onto my internal drive. I checked the System Settings, and it says the Video Capture, Video Render, and Audio Render files should be going onto the external drive. But, when I look at the external drive, the render files aren’t there. I noticed my internal hard drive filling up, and checked. For some reason, there’s a Render folder directly on my internal drive, and that’s where the render files are going. And, as I mentioned, the System Settings indicate they will be saved on the external drive.
Any idea why this is happening? And, what I might do to correct it?
Thanks very much for your expertise!
    Sincerely,
    Vic
    FYI: I’m using a MacBook Pro (2008) and FCP7

Thanks, Dave. Actually, I am relatively new to FCP7, and haven’t really “tweaked” the settings much at all. It’s pretty much as it is when I purchased it.
So, then, are you saying I can simply trash the Preferences and that will take care of it?
Would you be kind enough to outline how I go about trashing the Preferences?
Thanks so much for your help!

Hi, again, Dave. I went to the site. There are many apps. Do you happen to know the name of the one for resetting the Preferences?
    Thanks,
    Vic

Thank you very much, Jon. I looked on the site and it says that Preference Manager requires OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
However, I am using OS 10.5.8 (Leopard)
Do you know if it will work with my OS? Or, alternatively, is there an older version that will work with OS 10.5.8?
Thanks very much for your help.

    Hi Vic,

If you look at the sidebar on the right of the page I linked to you’ll find older versions for OS X 10.4 and 10.5.
