You can use the VOB video files in After Effects if you change the file type extension from VOB to MPG. no converting and further quality loss. 😉

I would like to say it’s possible, but the support via FW was pulled. So SDI is your only option for DVCPRO50 ingest with CS5.

CS3 was some ago for me so I’m not sure about PPro being required to reboot after a media cache cleansing…
If all you really need is audio maybe if you have soundbooth or another app to just get audio out. Then sync them in PPro…?
just trying to think outside the box? VLC has an export/convert option… Maybe try that for the audio?
The media cache is definitely the culprit. Maybe a reinstall is required?

Clean the media cache from the prefs. Close and relaunch ppro. Allow the caching conforming to finish then edit. 😉

What is your computer specs, hdd setup, and file specs you are trying to edit? Editing uncompressed req’s very fast hdd read/write rates let alone a grungy CPU.

Ah well then, this drop n drag method is new to CS5 only. CS3 and CS4 don’t have this feature. It is a great feature.
What you are doing is the best way to get the right sequence.

Can you please supply the material format you are editing with and the export settings you have had the problem with.
Updating to 5.0.2 (using the Help Menu to run and update would be the easiest way to update to the latest version of the CS5 applications).

Technically, outside the clip, you are rolling the edit not trimming. Try setting the roll next/precious edit shortcuts.

It would appear the media cache for that clip has become corrupted. Clean the cache from the preferences an relaunch ppro. Let it all re cache index conform. Then cut again. 😉
