    So, what’s the secret recipe for ingesting DVCPRO50 material via Firewire with Premiere Pro CS5?

    We have green screen DVCPRO50 material that we’d like to acquire as DVCPRO50 to take advantage of the better color space, but we are having no luck getting this material into the computer.

    We have:

    1. CS5 64-bit
    2. Windows7 64-bit 12 GB RAM
    3. Panasonic AJ-HD1400 DVCPRO deck

    We can acquire this material via Firewire ONLY IF we tell the deck to downconvert 50 material to 25/DV. If we keep the DIF output to 50, Premiere’s capture window reports “Failure to activate device. Try resetting recorder.”

    Any thoughts? Our PPRo timeline is a DVCPRO50 NTSC widescreen 29.97fps, which is what the material was shot as.

    We can acquire this material as DVCPRO50 via component or SDI with our Blackmagic Decklink card, but I’d like to get this material over Firewire, as not all of our CS5 workstations have SDI IO ports.
