    Hi Sean,

PCI-X is not the same as PCIe (PCI Express).

If you have a old PCI-X G5 with Dual processors you will need to buy the Blackmagic PCIe to PCI-X bridge card.

If you have the new PCIe Dual core G5s that where announced a couple of weeks ago you use the simple PCIe to external PCIe adaptor included with the Multibridge Extreme.

Give me a call on 01752 704 891 and I will go over it with you.

Correction to my own post, Dual core PCIe distractions.

I actually supplied Ten80 with the Sonnet Tempo 4+4 PCI-X card as this was before the eSATA 8 was released.

    Hi All,

Just to reinforce what Bob is saying, I have supplied customers with the Sonnet Tempo-X eSATA 8 PCI-X controller and the Fusion 400 4 drive enclosure (2 eclosures for 8 drives) and all are working great with HD.

One of my customers is Ten80 in Paris France, who I suppied with the Sonnet eSATA 8 and a DeckLink HD Pro, they sourced their own enclosure as this was before Sonnet had released the Fusion 400.

Read more about it here (in English)
    https://www.ten80.fr/index.php?page=tech&article=french-apples

I have just supplied a 4 drive system using the 500GB Hitachi 7K500 with a DeckLink HD Pro for light HD graphics work. It’s speed testing at 240 Megabytes per second read and 238 Megabytes per second write with RAID 10percent full, perfomance will drop off as the RAID fills. Available storage is 1.8TB formatted.

Even with 2 enclosures and 8 500GB drives these units are very quiet, no louder than a G5, A single 4 drive unit is much quieter than a G5.

1, Your in the wrong mode on the VTR/DeckLink or your SDI cable has failed.

2, You don’t use the rosetta with a DeckLink as it has a real RS-422 port. You just need a normal RS-422 cable.

    Hi Peter,

Sounds like your FRC is missing the SD-SDI option.

So, you need to output HD-SDI then downconvert.

What gear do you have onsite that can downconvert?

If you have FCP with a DeckLink HD or Kona 2 you could go into Log/Capture with the cards downconveter switched on and record EtoE staight from the downconverted SD-SDI.

DeckLink Audio is the right choice as the SPDIF is just channels 1/2 de-embedded from the embedded audio on the SDI output.

Don’t forget this SPDIF is really AES3 as it has pro bits turned on which some consumer gear will block like Yamaha amps and DAT machines.

It’s it’s a new Dual 2Ghz with PCI slots instead of PCI-X, it won’t work with any PCI capture card as there is an issue with the PCI based G5 Macs with capture cards.
