I am running 10.3.8 G4 MDD 1.5G Ram. I recently upgraded to DeckLink Extreme (4.8) and cant seem to get anything out of the SPDIF out for monitoring purposes. In my SYS PREFS, the only choices are “Line Out” and “DeckLink Audio” under output. The MB PDF shows a “SDI Digital Audio” choice. This is a new move for me so forgive if it’s an easy fix. What am i missing?

    Thanks,

    Peter

DeckLink Audio is the right choice as the SPDIF is just channels 1/2 de-embedded from the embedded audio on the SDI output.

Don’t forget this SPDIF is really AES3 as it has pro bits turned on which some consumer gear will block like Yamaha amps and DAT machines.

    Jonathan,

Thanks for the info. I am not very strong in audio. I can’t get it to show up in any input on my Mackie 1402 nor my JVC TM-A13SU video monitor. Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Peter

Your connecting a digital signal to an analogue input!

You need an Digital Analogue conveter, like the Flying Cow my Maudio.

I just hooked up a Behringer Ultramatch Pro (SRC 2496) to a Decklink HD Pro board, (SPDIF to analog and back), which is about half the price of a Flying Cow. It works great so far.

    Barend,

Thanks! Right now, I’m just monitoring my Beta Deck. Both the Behringer and the Flying Cow seem to be 6 weeks out of stock.
