[Martin Phillips] “but I think that it was the Panasonic HVX 200.”

That’s part of the problem, the VX200 does not have a true 1080 res sensor and uses pixel shifting (offset sensors) and interpolation to get 1080.

So if you usually work with real 1080 res cameras the VX200 looks very soft and lacking in detail

Focus is off, which won’t help.

What camera was it shot with?

Did you have to render the clip on the timeline?

In 25Hz mode the deck is outputting 720p up-converted to 1080i.

    In 59/60 it’s straight 720p.

    Hi All,

DVI-I means analogue and digital on the same connector.

DVI-D means digital only it will normally be single link

DVI-D Dual Link is what you need for the 30inch Display.

  • Anthony,

They are both 4 lane PCIe devices, they will work in any of the 3 PCIe slots, the middle one is 8 lane so you might want to leave it spare.

If you have the Quadro card you have no choice as it blocks the 4 lane slot next to the graphics card’s 16 lane slot.

  • Abtastraten
Horizontalfrequenz: 30-94 kHz (VGA), 30-92 kHz (DVI), Vertikalfrequenz: 48-85 Hz (VGA & DVI)

    It does 50Hz.

  • The HP 23inch syncs at 50Hz.

    [nookynook] “what would you suggest?”

If your shooting with a Z1 for SD release, you might as well capture HDV, then bump to uncompressed SD and use Graemes Nattress’ 4:2:2 sharpening filter.

I don’t recommended doing any finishing in HDV mode.

  • [nookynook] “it’s a pitty you are not located in germany.”

I have HD clients all over the World from Iceland to South Africa, USA to Slovenia, so provide consultancy worldwide but would recommend you buy your hardware locally.

[nookynook] “— so you don’t think it is a good idea to use them for hdv-monitoring when working in pal? which monitor do you recommend? pricy sony ones?”

My preferred low cost option is the 19inch 4:3 (17inch 16:9) JVC HD CRT fed using analogue HD component.

[nookynook] “— what is the cheapest solution?”

Blackmagic is always the lowest cost solution!

[nookynook] “— dvcpro hd still takes a lot disk space … i am doing longform-features with hundreds of hours of video … was hoping the quad would manage hdv like a “usual g4/g5″ manages dv …”

Is all the material shot on HDV ?

Are the features being sold as HD ?
