A link to the User’s Guide is at the bottom of the product page which explains how to install and use it. You just press the Add Files button to add files, select your Preset and then press the UpShift button to batch convert.

An overlay is about the best solution but you don’t have to make it static. I would make it a complete border with slight motion and soft edges that were irregular. Maybe something with a brush stroke. Make it wider at the top or bottom and place the buttons there perhaps integrating the buttons into the border.
Another idea is to mask the top and bottom only as if you were making it widescreen and place the buttons on the bottom. This way the video will look like it’s playing widescreen yet the buttons don’t distract.

Go to the Project Media and right-click on one of the MOV files and select Properties. On the Media tab, set the Alpha Channel and then press the diskette icon next to the Stream: drop-down. This should save those properties for all MOV files. Note: this does not work from the timeline event properties. You must do it from the project media pool.

If this is your editing computer that you generate income from, you should seriously consider a complete backup of your C: partition before installing something as drastic as a Service Pack.
There is a thread going on right now on the Sony forums where some people are reporting no problems as you see here while others are telling horror stories of how it completely messed up their PC, their firewire stopped working (or at least their camera was not recognized because SP3 placed a firewall on their firewire port!), and it took days to recover. One guy had to go back to SP1 and then apply SP2 again to get back where he was.
This should never happen to any professional. If you don’t regularly backup your computer (at least your C: drive) you are asking for trouble. I have Acronis TrueImage set up to do a complete backup of my C: drive once a month and an incremental backup every day. These backups go to a folder on my 1TB D: drive and I hardly know it’s happening. Just set it and forget it.
I have not installed SP3 yet but if I did and it completely trashed my machine, I would be up and running again in 10 minutes from this morning’s partition image. System Restore is NOT something I would trust to back out of a Service pack gone bad. In fact, I have it turned off since I can restore to any day of the week for the previous month using TrueImage.
What if after installing SP3 your PC won’t boot? I had that happen to me after applying SP2. Are you willing to re-install XP and re-install and re-license and activate all of the software on your computer including having to call some vendors on the phone because their activation doesn’t let you activate a second time? That would take days. Do you have days?
It could go fine… it could trash your computer. You gotta ask yourself, “am I feeling lucky today”. 😉 Please backup your C: partition before attempting anything like this. Acronis TrueImage has a 30-day free trial where it’s fully functional so it costs you nothing for this protection but I bet you wind up buying it. I tried a lot of backup software and this one seems to be the best. Like I said, if this PC produces income, can you afford to have it down for days?

Vegas Pro 8 can benefit from DVDPrep as well because it works the same way that previous versions of Vegas do. I wrote DVDPrep because people were always asking what rendering template they should use. While having a large selection of templates makes Vegas more flexible, it is also more confusing for someone who just wants to make a DVD and not become a rocket scientist in the process. DVDPrep simple selects the correct template given information you already know about your project.
The thing to remember with 16:9 is to start your project as 16:9 and select one of the widescreen templates when rendering. This will keep everything 16:9.

I have never seen that error. As Douglas said you must have DVD Architect installed but you said you had Architect in your original post. Maybe this is because you have the trial versions and they are not fully licensed.

The BD1400 is almost a year old. Oh it has nothing to do with the Pioneer discs. The physical discs played fine. What would happen is that none of my chapter points would work, or I could jump from the chapter menu into the movie but not be able to get back to the chapter menu after that. It was the structure of the disc and way the Samsung was interpreting the Blu-ray spec that was causing the problem.
Yes, applying the latest firmware has solved all of my problems and I can author using DVD Architect 5 and playback on the Samsung BD1400 just fine. I would imagine that you’d want to pick up a newer model player anyway. I was only pointing out that authoring discs to give/sell to clients would be a risky business right now. Luckily there are not many clients demanding them.
I have to say that Samsung has been great about the firmware updates but what scares me is what happens when they feel that box is too old support anymore? What do I do then? If new discs just stop playing am I supposed to throw the box out and buy a new one? Hopefully it’s just bugs once they get worked out everything will work. Right now, it’s working fine.

Have you checked the Fraps web site? They recommend that you pre-process your files in VirtualDub rendering them to a codec that is more easily ingested by NLE programs. While some of your files may have worked, apparently they all don’t and this is what’s causing the problems you are having.

Well… there is a FREE script plug-in from VASST called DVDPrep that takes all of the guess work out of it. Just select your format and press OK and it will render with the proper settings.
As for DVD Architect, crate a 16:9 project and drop the output from Vegas/DVDPrep onto your menu and you should be all set.
I assume you have your Vegas project setting set to DV Widesceen so that your project is widescreen to begin with. This will eliminate any surprises later when rendering.
