I also use the Pioneer burner and it works great. Playback, however, is hit and miss. I have the Samsung BD1400 player and I had to upgrade the firmware several times to work through various issues. I don’t know if this is unique to the Samsung players but it didn’t leave me feeling confident that you could distribute Blu-ray discs that would actually work consistently across players.
My personal feeling that Blu-ray is not ready for prime time home use. Mom and Pop never had to upgrade the firmware on their DVD players and won’t know what to do when their brand new Blu-ray player doesn’t play the movie they just paid a small fortune for. Mom and Pop also probably don’t have a LAN in their homes so having an Ethernet port on a Blu-ray player is little help. I know my TV is no were near my router so I have to download the firmware and burn them to CD’s on my computer and boot my Blu-ray player with the disc and wait 20 minutes for it to update praying that we don’t have a power failure which would render the player unusable (we have a LOT or power outages in the summer around here).
So while you can burn ’em… unfortunately there is no guarantee that others can play them as you intended. Maybe the new players are better but this is just my experience as an early adopter. Your mileage may vary. 😉

Somehow your MP3 renderer got unregistered. I haven’t seen this in quite a while. What you use to have to do is go to the Render dialog, select MP3 as the type and then press the Custom button. Once in the customize dialog you had to click on the MP3 logo which took you to a window that allowed you to register. If that doesn’t work you need to call Sony Tech support. The call is free for registration issues.

You have to hover your mouse over the bottom of the window until it changes into a double-bar. Then click and drag up. So start at the bottom where it turns into a double-arrow (that’s for changing the window size) then slowly move up and it should change to a black double-bar with arrows. Click at that moment and drag up to reveal the hidden timeline.

Apply the Sony Color Corrector to the event or track. On the High color wheel, click the Choose Complimentary Color eye dropper (on the bottom left) and then click on the snow in the preview. It should adjust it back to white.

I don’t believe that Vegas Movie Studio supports HD. You need to upgrade to Vegas Movie Studio Premium for HD support. That might be your problem.

What exactly does “it never works when it’s finished” mean? What doesn’t work? What do you see? It might be that Vegas cannot handle the files from your phone. You may have to convert them to a different format before using them in Vegas.

What version of Vegas are you using (Vegas Pro 8, Vegas 7, Vegas Movie Studio ?). What render type and template did you choose when you received that error? Is your source footage HD? (otherwise why would you want to stretch SD footage 5x larger up to HD?)

Right now it will only use 4 cores when rendering because having 4 rendering threads is the current limit, but the 64-bit version will use all 8. How efficiently is dependent on how well the work can be parallelized. There are some plug-ins that are not multi-threaded and these will force Vegas to only use one core when rendering that plug-in.

No DivX is MPEG4 also and very highly compressed. DV Widescreen would use significantly less compressed but result in larger files. You need to render for the output device. If you plan to use these on a PC or portable device, then one more render to MPEG4 might not be that noticeable. If you plan to play them on a DVD then you need to render to MPEG2 anyway (which also uses less compression than MPEG4).
I wouldn’t get too hung up on it. Render out to MPEG4 and see how it looks. If you’re happy with the results then all the worrying is for nothing. If you don’t like what you see, then you’ll need to look for alternate render formats.
