    Hi all.

I have Vegas 8b. Last I checked I have 2GB RAM. My video is 1 minute 21 seconds and comprises mostly of compressed 30 fps clips, though there are a few 60 fps uncompressed ones from Fraps. The 30fps ones are also from Fraps, but already compressed with Vegas beforehand. Audio is a simple mp3 file.

    Saving as WMV9
Video Rendering Quality set to Good
Audio Rendering is Quality VBR, Windows Media Audio 9.1 Professional, VBR Quality 90, 44 kHz, 2 Channel 24 bit
For Video it is Bit Rate VBR, averaging 1M, 640×480, fps 30, seconds per keyframe is 3. Aspect ratio 1.

    What happens during rendering:

Sometimes I get an “exception error message”.

Other times, there is no error message. During these times, I watch as the % bar is severely outpaced by what I see on the preview screen. Just now, my preview screen had already gone to the end of my movie whereas my percentage bar was still at 54%. Then the preview screen showed me the first few seconds of my video being rendered AGAIN, before Vegas crashed abruptly.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked the Fraps web site? They recommend that you pre-process your files in VirtualDub rendering them to a codec that is more easily ingested by NLE programs. While some of your files may have worked, apparently they all don’t and this is what’s causing the problems you are having.
