No. That setting determines how Motion Blur will be applied when it is needed but it does not add it.

Actually, that’s *exactly* what he has to worry about. Steve said that sometimes he has to do voiceovers and I assume he means that he does them himself sitting at the computer like I do. I purchased a AMS Venus T5 Series 5-Bay Hard Drive Enclosure and the fans sound like a jet engine even when on the low setting. I have to turn the enclosure off to do voiceovers. 🙁
I would not buy an enclosure until you get an answer to your questions. I’m also interested in the answer to this question because my AMS enclosure is of limited use to me because it is too loud to keep by my computer. I too need one that’s almost silent like my PC.

Try this: F11 will hide the docking area and only show the timeline. If you make the trimmer fill the whole screen (by making the docking area fill the screen) then F11 will toggle between the trimmer and timeline.

Jill, Ultimate S Pro can do the same as Excalibur. You could trim all of the media outside of the regions or markers and optionally ripple them to remove any gaps caused by the trimming all with one push of a button. You would be left with a timeline ready to edit.
Before you purchase either tool, I would download the free trial of both Ultimate S Pro and Excalibur and see which one fits your workflow better.

Well Jill… I spoke too soon. I tried to write the script but unfortunately, media markers cannot be added to media. You can only see the ones that are there, but you can’t add more. I’m very sorry; this would have been a good solution to your problem but Sony hasn’t given us this capability in the Script API. 🙁

Hey Jill,
I was just thinking that this might be accomplished with a script. Here’s how it would work… you run the script on the event before you open it in the trimmer and it will embed any timeline markers or regions in the event. Then you open it in the trimmer and they will be there. Once you close the trimmer you could have another script that promotes the markers and regions in case you changed them while in the trimmer and wanted the timeline to reflect the change.

Sorry I don’t use anything else. I just turned off scene detection and live with it. Some people like HDVSplit. I have never tried it.

You can do this in Vegas. There is no notion of tempo changes. There is just a single project tempo. You could use ACID for something like this and still stay within the Sony suite.

This would be very tedious to do manually in Vegas but you could do it with Track Motion and lots and lots of keyframing to match the movement. It is much easier and more believable if you use a tool like Boris RED or After Effects that have a motion tracker or corner pinning, or a tool like Mocha that does planar tracking.
