Yes, but not one at a time. When you set the End-Action of the menu to Loop, there will be a green marker inserted at the first frame. This is the menu start position. Moving this marker to the right, will delay the display of the menu items. This includes the title so you may have to add some of the items to the menu video in Vegas so that only the highlights are left to be displayed. They will display all at once so while you can create a video of them fading on one at a time, I would only display the highlights after all three are visible.

Digital intermediaries are usually lossless or near-lossless formats. For HD Vegas ships with the CineForm codec. It can be found under Video for Windows (*.avi) in templates like HDV 1080-60i intermediate. If you’re not using HD then you can render to a codec like Huffyuv or Logarith which are both lossless or you can render uncompressed or Quicktime Animation. (You can do a Google search on “Huffyuv” or “Logarith” to find these and download them as they do not come with Vegas.) If it’s just DV quality, you can even use the Vegas DV codec which can be re-rendered to several times with no appreciable loss in quality.

As Mike said, this is possible if, and only if, it’s a format that Vegas can render to.

That’s correct. What you want is not possible because Vegas cannot render Quicktime H.264. Even if you buy Quicktime Pro like many of us have, Vegas doesn’t use it and only uses the outdated MPEG-4 Video format which is not the same thing.

Yea the Mask Generator is the thing that allows the removal of the black. The reason I said to add it to a piece of black media on the track above is because the Mask Generator effects the entire clip which turns it Black & White and you may have other black parts that you don’t want keyed out. But as long as whatever you did works for you then that’s a fine way to do it. 😉

What codec did you use to make the AVI? Try using DV or HuffYUV or Logarith, or any other codec that edits easily in Vegas.

There will be a brief pause between the two videos but it will work. You should make sure that the split is at a point that a pause won’t be noticed (like a fade to black).
Also, if you set chapter points they will not return past the second video once it has started. In other words you can chapter forward but once you are in the second video, you can only navigate back through chapters up to the start of the second video.
In the future you might try rendering the two halves to an intermediary format and then place the two intermediaries on the timeline and render to the delivery format as one file.

That was your first mistake. You should have a main menu with 3 empty buttons. Alternately, you can start with a main menu with three transition videos. You cannot start with the three main videos. It won’t work.

Buttons don’t have an End-Action. They only have an Action. If you are setting an End-Action then you must be setting the End-Action of the video which is wrong.

That sounds correct once you have the empty button action set to the transition as it’s destination.

Highlight the button on the main menu by selecting it (single click). Then under Button Properties select Action. What does it say for Destination? It is probably the main video which is wrong.

I’m guessing that you are not setting the action on the button but rather setting the end-action of the button’s destination video causing the video to be played first. A screen shot would probably be a big help.

The option to check is Save project markers in media file. It is also important not to move the file once you’ve done this. The markers are not embedded in some media and are actually saved in a separate file in the same folder. So if you move the rendered file and not the marker information, this will cause it to fail. Perhaps this is what’s happening?

I assume you want to make a Blu-ray disc and burn it to DVD media, yes? This may or may not work out well depending on your Blu-ray player. Mine (Samsung BD-P1400) stutters when playing AVCHD Blu-ray burned to DVD media. Your mileage may vary.

That’s because the DVD format is 720×480. You want to start a Blu-ray project in DVD Architect. Then burn that to DVD media.

Yes, you can do it in Vegas but it’s a LOT easier in After Effects. You start by cutting up your photo with an alpha layer into separate images and then use 3D Track Motion to position the layers in 3D space. Then use Parent 3D Composite on an empty top track and make the tracks below children to control the overall motion.
The reason I say it’s easier in After Effects is that AE has a camera that you can use like a real camera to pan across or through the scene. In Vegas you have to move the scene to give the illusion of the camera moving since your view point. AE also allows you to see and manipulate all of the layers in one view. In Vegas you can only control one track at a time so it increases the difficulty of lining things up but it’s possible to pull off.
