    OK,

I am trying to figure out how to get transistion media to play when a button is selected on my DVD’s. I tried doing what DVD Arch help says to do, but soethings not right.
    1. I dragged my transistion media to the root of the project overview tree.
    2. I set the end action of that media to link to a button on one of my DVD menus
    3. Im supposed to set the button action to play the transistion media, but I dont see where to select that.

    Im on DVD Arch 4.
Anyone have quick and dirty steps to make this happen?

You were almost there. You want to set the button on your menu to play the transition and the end-action of the transition to point to the video or the next menu.

    > 3. Im supposed to set the button action to play the transistion media, but I dont see where to select that.

Select the button, select the Action tab on the Button Properties, and set the Destination link to the media that you placed in the root.

    The flow would be:

[menu button destination] -> [transition media] ->
    [transition media end-action] -> [next menu}

    John,
Sorry I know Im being thick about this. But……

I have a main menu on the DVD that has 3 seperate videos on it.
I set the end action-destination of one of them to my transistion media. I then set my end-action destination of the transistion media to point at the video for that button. When I preview and hit the button of that video it just plays the video without the trasistion media and then plays the transistion media after the video? What am I doing wrong? Any ideas?

No need to be sorry. Text leaves a lot to be desired when trying to explain graphical interactions.

    > I have a main menu on the DVD that has 3 seperate videos on it.

That was your first mistake. You should have a main menu with 3 empty buttons. Alternately, you can start with a main menu with three transition videos. You cannot start with the three main videos. It won’t work.

    > I set the end action-destination of one of them to my transistion media.

Buttons don’t have an End-Action. They only have an Action. If you are setting an End-Action then you must be setting the End-Action of the video which is wrong.

    > I then set my end-action destination of the transistion media to point at the video for that button.

That sounds correct once you have the empty button action set to the transition as it’s destination.

    > When I preview and hit the button of that video it just plays the video without the trasistion media and then plays the transistion media after the video?

Highlight the button on the main menu by selecting it (single click). Then under Button Properties select Action. What does it say for Destination? It is probably the main video which is wrong.

    > What am I doing wrong? Any ideas?

I’m guessing that you are not setting the action on the button but rather setting the end-action of the button’s destination video causing the video to be played first. A screen shot would probably be a big help.
