Never, ever, install a codec pack. It’s like taking all the pills in your medicine cabinet hoping one will cure you… one might… but the others could kill you. Codec packs overlay the high quality codecs that you purchased from Sony with Vegas Pro or Movie Studio with low quality free codecs. It’s always a bad idea to install them and most of the time they will break Vegas in some way. Your best bet is to figure out the one codec that you need and install just that one from the manufacturer.

That’s always good advice. Windows 10 did not even exist when Vegas Pro 11 came out so it’s not officially supported although is should probably work on a fresh install but upgrading your applications when upgrading your OS is always a good idea for maximum compatibility.

Oh, I almost forgot… the answer to the question: “Where on earth are my video files?” …they are buried deep in your iPhotos library structure. You can open iPhoto and drag them out to your desktop. This will make a copy. Then you can delete them from iPhoto if you’d like.

Are you talking about FCP 7 or FCP X?
If you are using FCP X, you should not be using iPhoto to import your video. You should plug in your camera and use FCP X to import them. I would also use the Create Archive function to make a Camera Card Archive while you’re at it.
I’m guessing the same is true for FCP 7. You never want to use iPhoto to import videos that you want to edit.

Yea, I would invest $4.99 in iMovie for iPhone and trim the clip and post to YouTube right from your iPhone. No need to get FCP 7 involved at all.

It should also be noted that Vegas Pro doesn’t work well with FRAPS footage so I would convert it to another format like Motion-JPEG which Vegas Pro will be able to read on any computer.

Historically, Windows upgrade in place has been a horror story. I know Microsoft encourages this with Windows 10 but it seems to be hit or miss. It sounds like yours was a miss. 🙁
If you really want to use Windows 10, I would strongly recommend that you perform a clean install of the OS. Otherwise, you will always have problems.

You can create a Parent Track and make the Text and Background tracks a Child Track and then use Parent Motion to move both child tracks in unison.

What codec does the MOV file contain? Use the QuickTime players Inspector Window (Ctrl+I) and tell us what it says.
Also it would help if your screenshots contain the entire Vegas Pro interface so that we can see if you have the track muted or the opacity set to zero.

I suspected that you might be using 32-bit color mode. Whenever you see a color shift like that, it’s the first thing I check. Glad you got it sorted out.
