What problems are you having?
We closed captioned 7 season’s (91 episodes) of Painting & Travel with Roger and Sarah Bansemer for PBS with Vegas Pro and my VASST Caption Assistant plug-in and there are absolutely no problems with the captions in our MXF files.

You asked this question back in December and the answer hasn’t changed. When you render to XDCAM HD/XDCAM HD422 MXF formats, captioning markers are embedded in the media file. Also when you render to MPEG-2 format, captioning markers are encoded in ATSC format. Those are the only two formats that support embedded closed caption with Vegas Pro.

Yea, the Mask Generator was automatically added when compositing prior to Vegas 6 and then you had to add it manually as a plug-in after that. I’m glad that got it working for you.

Did you read the information in the link you pointed to? Vegas 4 handled this differently. It says:
The compositing model in Vegas Pro 6.0 and later differs significantly from the Vegas Pro 4.0 model. To reproduce the Vegas Pro 4.0 parent/child masking behavior, set the compositing mode of the parent track to Multiply, and then apply the Mask Generator plug-in as a track effect on the parent track.
Actually, I just tried using Parent/Child for the original posters problem and it worked fine for me. No need to use a nested project as I suggested.
So now I’m wondering why it didn’t work for him. I added the Composite Mode to a title track, then placed both the title track and lower third track under a Parent track and the composite mode only affected the title and lower third and not the video below it.

Yea, I can’t edit my posts either. It started just recently and I thought it was just my browser. Thanks for confirming that others are having this problem too.
It’s interesting that it’s the number of QuickTime files and not the size all added up. Thanks for posting that work-around.

I’ve got to believe that having two graphics cards from different manufacturers is not helping.
I would disable GPU acceleration in the Preferences and see if that helps. If not, remove the NVIDIA card and see if that helps.

That request is a little confusing. MXF is a Media eXchange Format container and doesn’t tell you what codec they want you to use. If by “HQ” they mean “ProRes 422 HQ” then that doesn’t make sense because ProRes HQ is 220 Mbps.
The closest preset I see in Compressor is: 1080i25 XDCAM HD 422 50Mbps and you could easily customize that to deliver 35 Mb/s but that’s using the XDCAM codec in an MXF container.
You should ask the client what codec they are expecting in the MXF file.

Hmm… I’ve never thought of using Photos for trimming video. I’ll have to check it out.

Intuition is a funny thing… You are overthinking it! 😉
Open Photos. Select View | Albums ⌘3 from the menu. Double-click on the Videos album. Find the thumbnails of the videos you imported. Drag and Drop those thumbnails onto the Desktop (or into a folder on your Desktop). It will copy the videos there for you. Then optionally delete the videos from Photos by right-clicking and selecting Delete. You can get to the same place by selecting the Last Import album since that was the last thing you imported.
It really isn’t any harder than that. You don’t need to know where they are stored internally at all… you just need to use Photos the way in was intended (to view photos and video). Hope that helps.
