When you AMA link, make sure the Field Order column is visible in your bin. It isn’t by default.
If it says anything but Progressive, you can change it there. With some formats, the AMA plug will get it wrong, I’ve noticed lately.

That’s essentially the difference between Op1A and OPAtom. OpAtom has separate audio. That’s what Avid uses.

What do you get when you select Windows/Workspaces/Effects Editing?

I get one large Record Monitor, the Effects Editor opened and enlarged and no Source Monitor. Is that what you are looking for? I can make the Record Monitor “huger” and save the workspace that way, too.

I’m in Avid MC 8.2. Was it gone in 8.0? I only upgraded at 8.1. Never saw 8.0.

Another way…

Put in/out around the whole track. On a Mac press Cmd-X to cut, then target A1 then hit Cmd-V (paste).
On PC, substitue Ctl for Cmd.

I’ve seen that too. I think its sort of a bogus error message, as I have even gotten it with DNX recorded footage. There’s probably a bad frame in there somewhere…might even be the first frame, or cutting out of color bars (if present). If you can subclip it into smaller chunks and consolidate those, it might help.

Been editing on Avid since 1998. Never seen that happen.
Is this a consolidated sequence?
I suppose it could be possible, with an extreme speed change, that requires long handles, you would think everything was okay, because you are playing the render file…..then apply a new effect, like a color grade…BOOM… The speed change becomes unrendered…and because your handles are too short, the speed change gets messed up.

If this does not fit your scenario…I can’t think of anything else. Try creating a new user setting from scratch. That often fixes bizarre problems.

The problem is hardware. The MacPro is Intel and Avid XPress Pro 4.x is PowerPC. You would need a G5 or G4 for run it. Not sure if Avid ever made a Universal Binary of XPress Pro before discontinuing the product.
You might get it to launch if you install Rosetta (Apple’s PPC emulator) on the old version of MacOSX, but I don’t think Avid ever approved that.
