May 1, 2016 at 4:45 pm in reply to: move graphic on new track without moving tracks underneathYou don’t need to add a 3D Warp effect. Just promote the graphic to 3D by clicking the 3D button in the lower right corner of the Effect Pallete. You should be able to move the graphic around and resize it without affecting the background if you do that.

May 1, 2016 at 12:06 am in reply to: Graphics (video) card question for PC/Premiere Pro CC 2015…Apple did not exactly screw the pooch. FCPX makes heavy use of OpenCL, and performs well with it. Apple doesn’t really optimize for a competing product like Premiere, so don’t be surprised they are not using Nvidia cards.

1080i 59.94 is 59.94 interlaced fields per second. Each frame is two fields, so the frame rate is 29.97.
There is no such thing as 1080i at 59.94 frames per second.
Recent versions of Avid support 1080p 59.94, which is 59.94 frames per second. -

April 23, 2016 at 3:11 pm in reply to: Adding more than +12db of audio gain across several clipsYou have two layers of audio level adjustment. Automation Gain (rubber banding or audio key framing ) can give you another +12db to play with. If you crank up clip gain to +12db, you can set a keyframe and raise that another 12.
You can also add track based effects if you are on a recent version of MC (7 or 8.x). You need to expand the section on the timeline to the right of the track selectors to see where to apply those. This may be easier, less tedious and more effective than adding automation gain to all the clips.

I think what you want to do here would be to forget ingesting via legacy import and batch import. This is kind of the old school way to do it and will not give you the ability to set handles…it takes in the whole clip and the media must match in name and duration to work.
What you want to be doing is initially ingesting using “Link to Media” then transcoding to an offline resolution. (Link to Media is called AMA in versions prior to 8.5). When you want to online, you relink the sequence to the original media, then transcode to your online resolution with handles. There are variations to this workflow but that the gist of it. But do not use legacy import if the issues described in your initial post are important to you.

Is there a tape machine connected to the mixer? Sounds like audio is feeding back through it. Turn it off or put its faders down.
You can test to see if it’s the Decklink by switching off external hardware…click the gear at the top right of the timeline. Then monitor audio via the computer output instead of the Decklink. If it sounds fine via the computer then it’s the Decklink or something the Decklink is connected to

Dave C from Avid posted on Avid L2 that they are working on a solution but it’s not expected until Q4.

April 17, 2016 at 1:04 am in reply to: CAPS LOCK/TITLE TOOL The little things that get under my skin!Apparently there is a new preference concerning this…
General/Enable caps lock protection.
Set to off and you should restore old behavior.

Not sure if this relates to what you are seeing, but it might….

April 12, 2016 at 12:01 am in reply to: CAPS LOCK/TITLE TOOL The little things that get under my skin!I think it’s because many people (like me) edit with caps lock on all the time (for audio editing) and forget to turn it off for titling. It should be a preference not the default, if it’s a “feature”
