This is sounds like a reference problem. Do you have a black generator connected to the digibeta deck?

Also, the DVW-A500 has a Reference switch on the front panel (on the left, I think). Try switching that to the opposite position. (sorry not in front of a machine, so I can’t remember exactly). I have seen having this switch in the wrong position affect the audio.

The LHe doesnt do cross conversion.

Just putting the 720p clip into your timeline will do a quick and dirty convert (not good quality).

The 1200A will do a hardware cross convert, but then I guess you lose the slo mo benefits.

If its just one shot, how about creating a 720p timeline and doing your slo mo there, then exporting to Compressor for the cross convert to 1080i.

If you cant get it to work, the noise reduction in Soundtrack Pro is very good (and operates similarly to Soundsoap) It integrates well with FCP.

That being said, it can interfere with ETT and capture, depending on your system. Its happened to me, and I always turn it off now during these operations.

My machine is on the slow side by today’s standards (dual 2ghz G5)….a MacPro might not hiccup at all.

You can revert anything on your drive to its previous state, not just recover stuff you trashed.

Are your projects on a SAN or some sort of removable storage?

When sending directly to Compressor from the FCP timeline (instead of a reference file), all your effects are rendered directly to the codec you are compressing to (MPEG-2, in the case of a DVD preset, for example). It does not use your FCP render files at all

This can lead to a cleaner encode, but it will take longer to compress. Sometimes a great deal longer.

If the DVCPRO HD footage is tape based (not P2) you should be able to cross convert the 720p footage to 1080i in the deck . Then capture everything else as 1080i as well. Do the entire edit in 1080i.

You may not have to eye match your Handbrake stuff if you re-do it using MPEG Streamclip.

Just call your new files (Streamclip) the same names as the old ones (Handbrake). Then use the Reconnect command to link to the new files instead.

try some new dvd’s (different brand). Maybe you got a bad batch of Verbatims.
