Frankly I would just try to edit with the footage as is, after conforming in CT, without Twixtor. The difference between 29.97 and 30 is very small. You may have to keep a close eye on sync and adust shots as needed, as they are minutely slower than the true 29.97 camera. Depending on how it’s shot and edited, it may not be noticeable at all.

Compressor, Twixtor, and any software solution will take a very long time to render, as you have seen, and you may still have sync issues and jittery motion.

While still in the devils advocate mode, I think apple learned the majority of FCP users were making client approval DVD’s, which can be done without DVDSP.

One reason DVDSP has not been updated is that there is not much more that can be done with it. It basically does everything in the DVD spec already. Their choice was either make a BluRay authoring program or EOL the product. They already decided against BluRay as they don’t see it being profitable enough for them.

If the footage really is 30fps you can conform it instantly to 29.97 in Cinema Tools without render.
This may introduce some small sync issues, however (but you would have that anyway using the method you were trying).

I would consider conforming everything to 29.97 in Cinema Tools, then use Compressor to convert to ProRes. As had been stated, 30fps is non standard and some monitors won’t even play it.

If you are still having monstrous encode times, Google the utility “Compressor Repair” from Digital Rebellion

Remove the matte or slugs before exporting to Compressor. No need to render what you are going to cut off. Just use as a guide during the edit.

This should also alleviate the problem of the small difference between Compressor and FCP.

1280 x 720 is a DVCPROHD frame size.
1440 x 720 is an HDV frame size.

They put it back in so you can use it with FCPX, as it’s the only way to get external monitoring with it.

Select the clips and toggle clip enable (control B)

Now try your render.

30 frames instead of 25 would leave you 5 frames

By the way…blue bar means unsupported enabler installed.

Can you modify the timecode track in the Viewer?

Modify/Timecode. Change it to 25.
