General Error 34
I have looked through all of the posts and on other sites and still can’t figure out my problem… I am getting a General Error 34 upon rendering in a sequence. Up to this point, I have moved all the footage to another hd, trashed all preferences, all caches,cleared the pram and I also did a repair permissions. I am only having this issue on one sequence out of the 10 in the project. The files all seem to be fine. The graphics are minimal and have been rendered several times before. I am running 9 gig of ram and a WD Velociraptor 10,000 rpm hd for my applications. I have 3 WD 2tb hd with footage on them but none of them have over half of the storage used. Running FCP 7 with MacPro 3.0 ghz Quad core. AJA IO HD. 4 Gtech 2tb external hd on eSata card. Any help will be appreciated.

Yes, Michael. I cleared all of the markers and points, deleted all of the render files, and tried rendering pieces at a time… when I would get one rendered and moved to the next one to render it, once it rendered the previous one would show up orange as unrendered again???

Check to see if you have any high resolution stills, grey scale graphics, or weird formatted media. I ran into the same problem on an hour long doc and the culprit was a very large still.

Greg, The largest is a 208.7 kb which I have used in all 6 shows before this one and haven’t had any problem. I am getting most of it to render now by removing it though… This one segment has the logo (graphic) that stays as a bug normally but now that I have removed it, most of it will render.??? Do you think it could be in my ram since the logo has rendered on the last show with the same size and everything? The only thing that I have changed is that I added the 3 2tb WD hard drives but they are the black caviar? and are suppose to be good…. Ideas?

I thought it was a Disk Full error – can you check that?
But also, double check you do not have any of the following in file names or disk or folder names etc.
Characters you should not use in filenames:
| ; , ! @ # $ ( ) / \ ” ‘ ` ~ { } [ ] = + & ^ -
Do you have any real time effects in your timeline? I mean green line effects.
Select the clips and toggle clip enable (control B)
Now try your render.

Neil, I checked all of the file names and everything else I could think of… It is a disk full error but I don’t understand what that means when I am using a 2tb hard drive and only have 529gb of footage on it. It has to be something else that is causing the error… I’m guessing…

Did your project crash at some point? When that happens, sometimes your scratch disks will get set to your system drive. Check your scratch disks.

Have you checked the format of these drives?
