Did you try copying the clips to a new timeline onto tracks actually numbered less than 24?
FYI, OMF is an old Avid format (one which they have since moved on from…now using AAF by default). All versions of Avid max out at 24 audio tracks, so it makes sense that OMF exports might not deal with it.

It was talked about a lot on all the forums, but Avid’s website does not give you a lot of obvious warning.
BCC 8 Avid upgrade special price is $295.
Not sure when that expires, but it may be soon.If you want to skip it, many Boris effects are in Avid FX, which you still have in your Effects Pallet

If you want BCC Plugins in MC 6 you have to purchase the upgrade to BCC 8.
BCC7 plugins are removed as they are 32 bit and cannot function in a 64 bit program.
There is a special offer available for the upgrade to BCC 8.

Use the Pan and Zoom effect instead . It maintains the resolution of the photo. Importing or dragging into the sequence resizes the photo to the video resolution of your project, which can reduce the quality of a high res still.
The red lines sound like you need to render.

On the bottom of the timeline is picture quality button. Set it to green for full quality. If its set to yellow, half yellow/half green, or “10” you will see diminished image quality (draft mode).

As Bouke and Shane stated, your machine is not a G5.
It sounds like you have a have an early Mac Pro. This Mac Pro will run MC 4 and will even run MC 6 ( however it will be unsupported, as if I have your machine correctly identified, it will not boot the 64 bit kernel)
As stated, check the matrix on Avids website to determine the optimal OS for your version of Avid.
Avid supports any graphics card supported for your Mac.
You should seriously upgrade your RAM. 4 GB is way to little. I have 32GB in a similar machine, but you don’t need to max it out like I did,

Mostly true…however Avid made a change to the DNX codec several years ago (around MC 4?)to meet SMPTE spec that causes some tricky issues with backwards compatibility.
Generally no problem with bins and projects, though. Way better than FCP.

Make sure QuickTime 7 is installed. QuickTime X does not support 3rd party plug in codecs.

Yeah. It’s a bit of a shock at first, but easily fixed.
My initial reaction was that they were trying to one up Apple…FCPX got rid of tracks, Avid got rid of the whole damn timeline. 🙂
