Need to deliver finished timelines to a post-house that’s still on 5.5 — is it possible to to a SAVE AS 5.5 out of version 6 – or can 5.5 read a 6 project? If not are there other options like XML out? Thanks

The project should transfer fine. I don’t believe the Pan and Zoom plugin is backwards compatible though so if you used it the moves will have to be recreated.

Great – has anyone actually tried this backward compatibility? I’m downloading a trial of 6 and will report if it actually works – Thanks

    Repeat 3 times:

I am not on Final Cut anymore.
I am not on Final Cut anymore.
I am not on Final Cut anymore.

Then rejoice that you’re using software produced by a company that actually understands the editing business and doesn’t ignore things like backwards compatibility.

Mostly true…however Avid made a change to the DNX codec several years ago (around MC 4?)to meet SMPTE spec that causes some tricky issues with backwards compatibility.

Generally no problem with bins and projects, though. Way better than FCP.

Hi have upgraded in past two weeks, have sent bins with sequences , including alpha channels, mattes keys, but no major effects. All is good, no problem whatsoever …. he says cautiously

Let’s get this done and go outside and play !!!
