  • The tapes I captured were originally shot in the early eighties, I transferred them using a fairly average hi8 camcorder, but I am guessing its simply caused by age, captured about 2003.

  • Just select the pan/crop icon thats on every event and adjust the crop amount accordingly. You can then use the option to copy and paste the event attributes to any and all remaining events that have a similar issue. You probably knew all of this already, I may have not made it clearer in my ist. post, best of luck.

  • I had a lot of this with old V8 tape converted to digital, I did a very small event crop to remove.

A while back I had to sync a mixture of stills and at least 2 sets of video cam clips, Pluraleyes failed because some clips were too short, not knocking Pluraleyes, its a great product.

I resolved the issue by making up a s/sheet and using 2 different methods within it.
Of course that still entailed a fair bit of work, example .. not all cameras had the exact same clock setting, so this discrepancy needs to be taken into account. Another obvious point is that if your placing stills on the timeline, say 5 stills 5 seconds long, only the first one can be placed correctly if they were shot in quick succession.

The s/sheet solution is still laborious, a script would be the best solution, unless Pluraleyes works, then maybe pull the trigger.

  • Slip tool ..

Extract from the manual below ..

    “Slipping and sliding events
To help you picture what happens when you slip and slide events, think of an event as a window to a media file. The window can display the entire media file or a small section. When the window displays only a portion of the media file, you can move either the window or the underlying media to adjust the media that is played by an event:

When you slip an event, your event maintains its place on the timeline, but the media file moves in the direction you drag.

When you slide an event, the media file maintains its place on the timeline, but the event moves in the direction you drag.

If you want to slip all of an event’s takes when slipping media, make sure Slip All Takes is selected in the Options menu. For more information, see “Using takes as alternate versions of events” on page 182.

Shifting the contents of (slipping) an event
Use the Slip tool or hold Alt while dragging an event. The slip cursor is displayed.
As you drag the event, the contents of the event shift, but the event will not move. You can use this technique when you want to maintain an event’s length and position, but have the event play a different section of the source media file.
For more information about the Slip tool, see “Editing Tool” on page 19. Slip-trimming an event
Use the Slip tool or hold Alt while dragging the right or left edge of an event. The slip-trim cursor is displayed.
As you drag the event edge, the opposite edge of the event will remain fixed, trimming the media from the edge you drag.

  • I had a similar issue last year, probably v14. I found that what mainly caused it was going out/switching to say the desktop or another app and then back. Never got a cure.

FWIW, ( VP15 311) Previously I had everything working ok, DV firewire capture wise, then I did a big Win 10 update last night, the latest one that gives the Graphics card performance info. in task manager.

Anyway its still working fine. The Texas Instruments PCIE firewire driver is still intact, undisturbed in device properties.
