Can’t Capture Video from Camera in SV 13
Posted by Dave Croonprince on March 4, 2018 at 8:57 pmHey,
I am not able to capture video from a standard def. mini dv cam to Vegas 13. I never had this issue until now. I connect the camera to the computer with the firewire cable. In Sony I click “capture video” then “dv” but no window pops up to let me capture it. It’s not a camera issue as I’ve tried a couple of them with the same results. Could this be an issue with Sony settings? Thanks

March 4, 2018 at 10:04 pmYes, as above I connect the camera to the computer with a firewire. When I click “capture video” and “dv” I get nothing allowing me to go further. This was never an issue before.

March 4, 2018 at 10:37 pmYes, everything is the same. I’m not sure why I don’t even get a window that pops up once I click “DV”.

Do you know if your camera has been recognised? Are you using the VidCap Vegas program to Import?

March 5, 2018 at 5:16 pmThe camera itself says “camera in” when I plug it into the computer with the firewire.. I also hear an audio tone when I do that as well that says the computer is acknowledging a device has been connected. In Vegas I then click on “capture video” in the file menu. Then I click “dv”. I get no window popping up when I click on “dv”. Nothing happens at all.

March 5, 2018 at 9:45 pmMaybe W10 updates have change your firewire driver. I know that to capture HDV the ‘legacy driver’ is required & every major W10 update requires that I reinstall the driver. Google firewire legacy driver. Also try a standalone dv capture programme ‘sceneanalyser’
Best of luck G

March 5, 2018 at 9:52 pmI have windows 7. Nothing has changed – not even the firewire cable itself. And even before I connect the camera to the computer – I can’t get any window to pop up that prompts me to connect one etc.

March 5, 2018 at 10:03 pmFair enough. If you look in the device manager you should see your camera. Check that it recognised. Not yellow highlight. If that is good to go try sceneanalyser. The files are capture to a directory and Vegas will accept those files. From time to time I used to have trouble capturing using VP. Likewise HDVsplit for HDV tapes.
Again best of luck G
